[Closed] Publishing a popular science article

Does anybody know how and where I can publish a popular science article (newspaper, magazine, popular science journal etc)? The basic idea is that I have figured out a way to describe a topic of popular culture using some basic physics and believe that I can write an original article about said topic that would be interesting to non-physicists. There is nothing ground breaking here, anybody who knows some physics could arrive at my solution. However, it has not been done before.

Does anybody know firstly where I can publish such a ‘light-hearted,’ ‘fun’ bit of physics? Secondly, how do I go about approaching editors without them stealing my idea? Is it best to come to them with a finished article? I’ve no interest in selling my article. Any advice or insight would be really appreciated, as I’m keen to get on and write this! Many thanks in advance!

You could post it here: http://www.big.uk.com/ This is a group for people who promote science education so will find it interesting and may find it useful. There is a chat group called BIG chat and a monthly newsletter. Its not a posh science journal but it will reach people who actually work in the field.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I'll take a look at their history of newsletters and gauge whether my work fits in with their usual type of publication.

Ask New Scientist?

Get it peer reviewed?

have a look on their websites for how to submit. each journal will have a set way for setting out each article.
