can't wait...
also film4 thursday 11pm Dead mans shoes - Shane Meadows best film IMO
Wooohoooooooooo - something worth watching on telly ๐
Warton. Are they showing any more of his films? 24/7 is my favourite
nice psa pook, looks good
Room for Romeo Brass worth chekkin oot tae!
Joe Gilgun - superb actor. He almost made Emmerdale worth watching when he was in it.
Joe Gilgun
he was in a bar I was in on my stag do in Leeds. he was allegedly as chemically enhanced as we all were, bought me a few drinks and I spent an hour telling him paddy considine and himself were the greatest actors ever... it was a long night
So what did everyone think?
Loved Joe Gilgun haircut ๐
A bit better than the film but not great, switched over half way through.
I thought it was great, going to watching the others.
Bit slow..
I think this one was just setting the scene. Looks like its going to heat up a bit
It was good to see Bradley Wiggins in a lead role though.
I thought the scooter guy was comic genius. definitely taken from paddy considines character in romeo brass...
I have just ordered the movie on DVD to see what all the hype is about...
Yeah this is all just context and refreshing the story. It's going to get good!
Did anyone recognise any bits of Sheffield then?
If you'd gone into the stag on psalter lane any night of the week a few months ago you'd have bumped into the whole crew. I was there one friday night and Shane Meadows etc were all there. They were lodging just over the road while filming apparently.
Dead Man's Shoes is my favourite of his films. It looks like film4 are going to show the whole lot plus some shorts etc.
Great Stuff.
Bit sh1t really. And one of the girls is possibly the strangest thing I've ever seen.
It was shit.
Yup she's hawt.
Would be interested to see her glammed up.
It's great! Got up early to ride to work, flicked the sky plus on to catch a few minutes of it... ended up driving in an hour later.
The scooter guys were hilarious, "shut it, orange pubes"

It was shit
.............very disappointed in you kkf. ๐
watch dead mans shoes on Thurs - its absolutely ridic.
Nobody can think that is shit.
(agree with Warton - scooter boy was piss)
....different feel but check out 'le donk & scor-zay-zee'.
not how i remember 86 looking or feeling but it was enjoyable all the same.
Watched second episode last night and thought that's more like it, anyone else persevering with it??
where can I catch the 1st 2 episodes? how many are there?
actress who plays lol isnt bad looking... but all i can focus on is what appears to be a shaved moustache above her lip.
im enjoying it, its got a good pace despite feeling like not much is happening. scooter crew made me laugh!
not how i remember 86 looking or feeling but it was enjoyable all the same
Exactly how I remember the early 80s! The way people dressed anyway.
Scooter crew? You mean the blokes on FS1-Es (Fizzys)?!
Thought 2nd episode was not as good. Seeing Vicky's breasts must've made some of you happy.
Her sister's more my type and very much reminds me of the type of girl I went for back then... (Although obviously earlier than '86 as I'd met Mrs Dezb by then) ๐
My wife and I have been watching and enjoying it.
The FS1-E gang were very funny, although they weren't riding them right because the position to adopt was with your chin as close to the petrol tank as possible to reduce the drag and squeeze that extra 1mph out of the bike! The bikes were also a lot quieter than I remembered at the time as most of them had aftermarket exhausts on like Micron or similar.
Seeing Vicky's breasts must've made some of you happy
So glad I recorded this.
I thought episode 2 was much better than the 1st one. Not just because of the nip shot either! ๐ณ
I thought it might get better after the first ep, and it really did. Thoroughly enjoyed episode 2 - in turn funny and tragic.
Doc - the Stag is my local (30 seconds stagger away) and I had a few with Shane et al one evening. Mate of mine works on the production for Warp.
Don't recognise much though - I don't really have a need to go to Gleadless!
It is starting slowly but I reckon that is intentional and gives us a depth and emotional investment that will be used to kick us hard in the balls at a later stage.
The format of a TV Series is very different to that of a film and it is interesting to see how Meadows is handling it, he is right up there in my top couple of directors and I trust him not to dissapoint which is why I am maybe more forgiving of the gentle pace at the start.
It remains to be seen whether it will be of the standard of the rest of his work but for my money even the slow start of this series makes most of the other crap on tv look pretty weak.
Can't wait for next tuesday.
[edit] - Smell is possibly the weirdest looking chinless wonder I have ever seen!
I enjoyed ep 2, gadget was funny!
and the legend that is IAN BROWN makes a cameo next week so can only get better...
Well, what did we all think??
well done... HEAVY
rumours of a This Is England '90 in the pipeline with shaun getting into the acid house scene
I thought it was brilliant TV. very heavy in places obviously, but those two scenes had my heart beating and my head ringing like no other british TV has before. The quality of the writing and acting was superb. British TV needs to invest more in programming like this, but i'm not holding my breath.
I've heard rumours of this is england 90, shame we'll have to wait 4 years for it
tv at its best
but those two scenes had my heart beating and my head ringing like no other british TV has before.
+1 I could hear my heart beating it was so shocking! Brilliant tv
That was quality stuff... never thought I'd hear my lovely wife wishing someone to be hit on the head with a hammer! "There's the hammer, there's the hammer! GET HIM!!" ๐ฏ
