Just letting folk know as it's a good phone at a good price. There is some stock in store but it's also on the website 🙂

My wife got one of these at the weekend as an updgrade; £16/month for 500Mb data, 100mins and unltd texts with no upfront cost for the phone.

I've had a decent play around with the phone and it's a bloody amazing spec, decent size good screen, battery life seems good, SD card compatibility, NFC.....all good, really.
Only thing I don't like about it is the back is very slippery and the phone tends to slide out of my hand. But, a case will soon sort that.

The girl in the Three store said they are end-of-line now so probably why there are deals to be had on them

Battery life is average at the best. 🙁

Otherwise, screen is superb. Overall use is fast, gives good sound and the camera is pretty damned good! I have a Cygnett back case on mine, neat and tidy.

Overall, a good phone, slightly let down by battery life. (I came to this from BB however, so pretty much any phones battery life is going to seem crappy by comparison)

I've got a normal s4 and iphone 4, both on o2.
I have to charge the s4 around 4 pm due to the awful battery.
It struggles to get any signal at times while the iphone has nearly full strength signal.
It's been back to samsung twice who say it's fine.
There's no surprise that offer by the op is so cheap, they're a bloody awful phone.
I just wish I knew this before I got mine.

Admittedly, my Wife turns her data connection off when not using it 🙄 but we bought it on Saturday, she charged it fully and last night it still had 33% charge left from the initial charge. So, it had done all of Sun, Mon and most of Tues on one charge....I asked her if she was going to charge it overnight and she reckoned she'd see how she got on for another day. So, will be interesting to see if there's any life in it this evening!
Admittedly, my Wife's usage pattern can best be described as 'minimal'!

I'm gonna stick the 16Gb card from my tablet into it this evening with all of her music on it. Bought myself a new 32Gb card for the tablet so i can stock it up with my music and several films (15 or so, I expect).

In store they sell without any top up charge. Reviews are pretty positive from both users and critics but obviously STW knows best 😉

I wish whoever buys one of these the best of luck but I'm sure there will be a few threads started soon saying they wish they hadn't bothered and bought something that worked instead.

iolo - maybe your's is a bad un as the reviews generally suggest it's an above average phone. we had an Iphone that artificially boosted signal and cost loads for a new battery. My Samsung's been as good as any for 3 years whilst my partner's s3 was average and her s5 seems great. I'll happily report back in a couple of months....

The battery issues could be down to the Android version - 4.4.2/3 had a well documented problem with battery drain. Seems to have been resolved in 4.4.4..

iolo - are you talking about S4 or S4 mini?

They are different phones. Although it sounds like you got a duff one, whatever it is...

87 percent battery and less than two hours on standby. As I said, bloody awful.

I'm talking about the S4 running 4.4.4

Edit: and as you see it's not picking up a signal where my iphone 4 is nearly full strength reception

So not an S4 mini, but definitely something wrong with it then if it's only lasting a matter of hours.

My Wife's S4 mini is lasting a few days between charges, although as I said above her usage pattern is fairly minimal.

21% of screen. Turn your brightness down and check there's not an app waking it up every two minutes.

I've had the S4 mini for a few months. It's ace. Battery lasts at least a full day and I always charge overnight anyway.

Not sure why people are jumping in with random issues they're having with unrelated phones....

Is s4 mini not a mini version of the s4 then?
I'm jumping in with my experience of s4, of which s4 mini is a mini version of it.
If I'm incorrect please forgive me. I thought the S4 mini is a mini version of the S4.

Posting from my shiny new s4 mini, cheers for the psa!

2 hours mucking around with it and at 80%' seems decent enough to me

No.

It's cost reduced in all sorts of ways and has a completely different chipset.

S4 has Exynos 5 Octacore, which was the first octacore system to come out and had fairly broken Big.Little support, which is perhaps why the power consumption is a bit iffy. That SoC was made by Samsung semi.

The S4 mini has a Snapdragon (Qualcomm) so probably works quite well.

I don't think they're even made by the same development groups within Samsung.

Thanks for that.
The name is very misleading for a layman such as myself.

iolo - I seem to think there were issues with the signal strength being exaggerated in the iphone 4. I think battery issues are not uncommon for lots of reasons such as the android version, apps, screen controls and dodgy phones!
