I think thats as cheap as theyll sell em.
May help to dab some oil on the blades and let them run in, before use.
Is it me, or does that look quite awkward to hold/use?
He's about to get one hell of a close cut if he goes through with that!....
Also, I've recently given up on battery powered clippers and gone back to the £15 Remington mains powered ones. Much more reliable, simpler and just nicer to use without worrying about the battery running out or eventually not holding it's charge.

afaik, the curved blades make it easier to use (when shaving around your ears) and the battery should last forty minutes.
usually £35, so a bargain!
Just got a multi-head set from Lidl complete with beard trimmer, sideburn trimmer, nostrils/ear gouger, shaver and hair clipper. All USB charged, same runtime and less than £15 IIRC
