Not come across this guy before. Impressive stuff.

What industry does he work in?

^ good question. No idea. To me (and 33 million others) he was just the hyperactive manic/clever blokey-bloke who fabricated massive jets on a Raleigh Shopper Bike

Impressive how you've not come across him before as he's probably one of the earlier YouTubeists that exploded in popularity, but yeah, genius bloke.

I love his early videos for pure craziness . As with so much of YouTube now, it's become monetized and has lost the raw feel and the diy ethic it used to have.

Obviously he couldn't make the crazy stuff he builds to the scale he builds it now without sponsors, but often the whole video feels a bit adverty...

Watched that vid above yesterday though, incredible build(but didn't enjoy the blatant eBay ads)

Man I'm so jealous of his tools! 😂

He served his time as a plumber and IIRC invented and patented some specialist tools which got him into building things.

I think he originally started making BMX videos in the pre-YouTube days (He's a pretty good flatland rider).

Quite how he came to combine the two to build a career from it I'm not sure.

The man has some style - I think he did 3,000 fireworks *in* a Transit van once.

Edit.

He had a load of his stuff on display at the Makers Central and I didn’t see the huge queue to meet him (lots of kids with their dads in there!) go down at all. Was still cheerfully meeting and signing stuff later on the Sunday. He’s mellowed out a bit as you’d expect but I really enjoyed that Speeder video, some serious graft in that.

Think he was still doing plumbing until he started getting TV work like Gadget Geeks.

Oh man. I did not need to discover this man at 11pm on a Satuday night. I need to go to sleep. That's not going to be happening any time soon!
I'm so jealous of his general enthusiasm. But the sceptic in me reckons I could be that enthusiastic if someone was paying me a lot of money to piss about and make things when I have little idea what I'm doing.

He didn't get paid earlier on, but he also really does know what he's doing despite appearances. Every so often he lets it slip 🙂
