One of Carpenter's finest IMO.
Ooh, cheers. I've got that on Laserdisc somewhere I think.
Coincidentally, I watched The Thing on Blu-ray last night. Can you believe I've never seen it before? It's aged well, FX is a bit iffy in places but it's incredible for a 1982 movie.
top cinematage!
With a quality Carpenter score to boot.
Should be a top night for movies, we've got both Predator movies tonight as well IIRC. (Predator 2 - massively underrated movie, Danny Glover's finest hour.)
Oh good call - I was going to do the predator double bill but will record 13. I used to have it on VHS, but I've not seen it for years.
Speaking of The Thing,

Short story told from the POV of The Thing itself.
Cougar - indeed, The Thing is a great movie. At least a decade ahead of its time.
P13 has a brill synth score by Carpenter himself.
Popcorn in the microwave and beer in the fridge.
WTF is it so late?

No way, it's such a fantastic movie too, the voice over review by the actors is one of the few I've really enjoyed.
Is it really that bad to say I enjoyed the re-make of Precinct 13 - yes obviously the original was better but I can still enjoy both.
One of Carpenter's finest IMO.
Good god no man, The Thing was his finest moment ๐
but precinct 13 blew me away when i first saw it as kid, the soundtrack and the whole atmosphere he creates is amazing.

"F****ing voodoo magic maaaaaan!" (classic bit of the film)
oh 'The Fog' is still good aswell, scared the crap out of me as a kid!
The Thing was his finest moment
You're all wrong, incidentally, as Escape From New York was John Carpenter's finest moment.
Just a shame that Escape from LA was his lowest, really.

I doubt I'll get away with watching it again, the OH may well leave me if I do.

+1
and keep humming Megablast all the way through it
Don't forget Halloween if we are talking Carpenter classics. The Duke of Yorks cinema in Brighton is doing a John Carpenter all nighter soon. They haven't announced the films yet, but I'm hoping for The Thing, Halloween and P13 or Escape from NY

Ah, Xenon 2.
BTW dont bother watching the P13 remake. Dissapointing.
No you're all wrong - They Live is John Carpenter's finest film.
It's got Rowdy Roddy Piper in it AND he goes mental.

T_I_M what's with humming the megablast theme though the "thing"?
(I love that tune, played Xemon 2 to death on a m8's amiga)
