I have a Samsung printer connected by wire to the latest Virgin wireless router.

It 's all set up fine and works OK but periodically it changes the last digit of it's IP address and wont work. I go to the router menu check the address, change to port number in the printer options on our laptops and it works again.

Any ideas how to stop it?

Thanks all.

Can you not set the printer to a static IP and the router to reserve it for the printer?

Fix the IP's to their respected MAC addesses. Unsure of 'new' Virgin router but they used to use Netgears which were easy.

Set it to manual/static and outside your current DHCP reserved range.

Yep.

Either,

a) set a static IP address manually on the printer, outside of your DHCP scope, or,

b) reserve an IP for the printer based on its MAC address, inside your DHCP range.

I use b) for every device connected to my LAN, including PCs; I like knowing where everything is.
