I have a very well designed Bosch 125 bar pressure washer, which only gets used now and again, but still it’s useful to have. I say well designed as it has a recoil mechanism on the high pressure hose and electrical cable. Simple stuff, but it really keeps the cables tidy!
Unfortunately a plastic piece within the gun has cracked and Bosch can’t supply the new part. They will only supply a new gun, for more than I paid for the entire machine!
Which means I am in the market for a new pressure washer. The Husqvarna 350 at £250 online price looks good, as does a cheaper karcher K5. The karcher seems to have a strange hose reel on the rear of the unit and an over complicated gun, which needs batteries and blue tooth! But despite this, it is cheaper than the Husqvarna in the outlet.
Is the K5 reliable with all its electronics? I can’t find any information as to whether the k5 has a metal pump, which the husky does.
Or if anyone needs a lightly used Bosch power washer without a gun, get in touch!
Any suggestions for general car, paving, domestic cleaning chores !?
I bought a Karcher K4 Compact I think 3 years ago. I use it very infrequently, maybe a half dozen times a year.
Sometime in year 2 it started leaking. It still works and I've not looked into what's causing the leak but I did google washers afterwards and the general consensus seemed to be don't by a Karcher. I wont next time.
Just buy a gun second hand and use that, or buy an alternate brand and just attach the gun using an inline insert and two p-clips. Such a waste of resources throwing away a working machine over one part.
On the subject of Karchers, our sprung a leak after about 7 years. What is impressive is you can buy just about every individual part online and they're pretty simple to repair.
