Does anyone own one of these? Any user reviews?

I used one a few years ago and thought it was pretty good. I'm looking to expand my home gym so I just ordered one with a set of olympic weights. It should be here in 7-10 days, can't wait!

Hmm, don't want to be down on your purchase.... But....

What's with all the levers? Why not go for a good power rack?

This is what the levers are all about

Spec:

Max weights

Lever Press Arm = 226 kg
Lat Machine = 136 kg
Squat Bar= 226 kg

There are a few advantages, the main one is you don't need a spotter to lift heavy, plus I already have a set of free weights.

that is the whole point of a power rack. What would be the point of lifting heavy with this thing? There will be zero stabilisation going on.

Thanks Saleem. Most people who've used one say they are brilliant.

No offence to the rest of you, but I'm after user reviews, not opinions on whether I've bought the right thing from people who've never used one. I can't fit a power rack in my bedroom, the overall footprint is much bigger, I don't have the room to be swinging a 7ft bar around, and and ill be using dumbbell too, so stabilisation muscles not getting worked isn't an issue.

I think it looks good but for that money I'd rather go to a gym - do you prefer to train at home?

No offence thedon, but if you're going to post on a public forum asking for a review on what is fundamentally an incorrect purchase in the first place, then expect people to pipe up. It's not being smug, it's not being superior, it helps the buying decisions of others who read it and may help you as well.

Just because someone hasn't used a piece of equipment doesn't mean they can't offer an opinion. I also don't own a bosu ball, Shakeweights or PowerPlate....

As to space; I'm not sure there are any exercises that require one to swing a 7 foot barbell around a room. The footprint of the lever gym is 2.56m x 1.42m. I would contend that a rack takes up less space. Especially if you match it with a 6 foot power rack bar.

Dumbbells do indeed use stabilisation muscles but are useless for a squat or deadlift and once you get up to bodyweight+ for your presses they aren't a great option there either. Also if you're such a big fan of dumbbells then why the levers? Or for the cost saving, just get some as well?

Thanks for your opinion mate, but like I said I'm after user reviews, not whether you think I made the right purchase or not. I know what space I have to work with, and with the bench detached the lever gym is a lot smaller than a power rack so it won't be in the way when not in use. I also have a full set of free weights, including barbell, weight bench, a pull up bar, and dip bars. This is to expand on the equipment I already have, I'm not starting from scratch. I've also been lifting for a rather long time and have made some great gains, so with all due respect, unless you are over 185 lbs with 10% BF, I don't really need your training advice either.

Sooo, back on topic, any user reviews would be appreciated, thanks you please.

Having looked at the promotional pictures on various sites it looks as though you need very large muscles to be able to lift the weights on it. If you don't have large muscles I'd look elsewhere.

Well I meet the physical selection criteria very easily so I'll continue.

User reviews are flawed in a couple of ways.

1: They are by people who have shelled out for the product and so there's the (classic to STW) recommend what you've got yourself syndrome. Who wants to admit there big purchase is flawed.

2: The very fact that someone has bought a product when better options are available indicates they might not be the greatest subject expert.

Classic example : 5 star reviewed Apollo mountain bike anyone?

I think it looks fantastic, shame it costs the same as 11 1/4 years of my gym membership.

I get what you saying hmanchester, but the reason I'm looking for user reviews is because I want to know what the squatting motion is like, is it natural or does it force you to squat in an awkward fashion? Also I have a shoulder issue, so I also wanted to know if the pressing motion is comfortable.

I'm not saying is there isn't anything better out there, if I had the space I'd have a power rack, but I think with enough room for the bar to move freely, the cage might be up against the bed, which isn't ideal.

I just checked on the Powertec room planner just to make sure and there is no way i'd have enough room for a power cage, the bar is longer than the space I have available, and a 6 ft bar doesn't fit in the rack.
