So they paid someone to make a report to tell us that the roads are crumbling???

Seriously? 😯

I think you'll find the AIA is bankrolled by and represents the vested interests of the tarmac industry. As such a report saying roads are knackered and need and increased spend on resurfacing should maybe be taken with a pinch of salt.

The roads around Leeds Bradford a rough. Feels a bit like a third-world country in parts. Wonder where all that road and fuel tax goes. Not on the roads!

try www.fillthathole.org.uk

You can publish pictures and descriptions of your favoutite holes, and see what your local council does to repair them or not.

Contact the council, I did a couple of weeks ago for one in East Ardsley, and they did reply, agreeing that the road needs fixing, unfortunately no timescale on itLeeds Council

Always are bad after winter sometimes they fix them quick sometimes they don't. Your taxes cover a lot more that filling potholes in and no you don't pay road tax.

the biggest* potholes in sheffield get filled with black gravel.

it's a cost effective repair that doesn't work at all.

(*and that's saying something)

I'm guessing you've never driven in a third world country! 😉

Potholes!!

Lets have a look we all pay road fund licence to allow us to use our cars, then we have to put the liquid gold in. All of which a large slab goes into the governments purse, this is then passed onto the local/ highways agency's to maintain our roads?

Who helps us the motorist/ the cyclist when we hit a pothole and bend or break a piece on the car, or worse as cyclists hit a pothole and end up on th deck.

Well can't what to head out to work in the morning and chuck another £80.00 in the car and keep my eyes pealed on the Swiss cheese roads around Shropshire.

Rant over 😡

I thought the Leicester ring road took some beating for potholes until I rode the A4124 Litchfield road from Bloxwich to Brownhills. I had to have my rear wheel trued after that one I sh!t you not. 😯

Shropshire had great roads a few years ago, you instantly knew when you went in to shropy at Whitchurch.

Then they built themselves a new office block, a new theatre, and converted the music hall, not to mention the darvin monument, then had no money to spend on roads, the road from battlefield into town is a disgrace, and so badly designed by a kid with an etch a sketch around the tesco area.

Well said Project.

Even the truck roads are a mess, as I travel toward Wrexham (granted just into Wales) you have to avoid a nice collection of potholes on the A5, mind you could just be braking ruts for McDonalds 😆

The A5 at the chirk/ mcdonalds roundabout, the most dangerous stretch of road and the bridge a bit further on, all it needs is a central reservation, and some proper enforcement of driving rules.

Anyone driven the back road from Blackburn to Dyce recently? Hilariously bad at the junction with the Hatton of Fintray road.

This!

A headset on a motorcycle is pretty costly to replace when it gets wrecked.
Which brings me on to the subject of ****ing speed bumps!
They are happy to put speed bumps everywhere and leave the potholes, sometimes in the same road. There's roadworks next to my house right now- what are they doing? Instead of resurfacing the road or even filling in the holes they are digging bits of it up to put speed bumps in.

Brilliant 🙄
