...been meaning to go to Craft for a while, I went last night and it didn't dissapoint, well worth a visit if you like ale and you're in the area, they have a sister pub in Pimlico and Brighton too called Cask. Big fan of the Rake in Borough Mkt, feel free to share others.

Cask in Pimlico is betterer. It's within crawling distance! 🙂

Will let the guys behind the pubs know when I next see 'em. Glad you liked it!

Alexx,

Any idea of location?

The Guinea in Bruton place is pretty famous for pies and steak and has been going a long time.

Rules, maiden lane.
Dickens used to get blotto there 🙂

Bloody expensive, and not really worht it IMO, but good for Game.

http://www.rules.co.uk/

It is only a short walk from Camra Pub of The Year (UK) 2011 (or 2010?) The Harp.

Great beer and top quality big bangers in a roll for lunch.

Have enjoyed beer chez CFH's at the Cask. Didnt know about Craft, will track it down it if it's not east of tower bridge...

EDIT

Craft Beer Company, 82 Leather Lane, Clerkenwell, London, EC1N 7TR

Dangerously close to trendy bastards, but I might risk it 🙂

I've never really got on with St Peter's range of beers. Not sure why. They remind me of the American attempts at ale.

St Peter's is dangerously close to my office, walk past many a time but never ventured in, will give it a go.

@ Alex - are you thinking of the Eagle Clerkenwell?

BTW - my favourite from craft last night the Diablo IPA from the keg.

Hmmmm. Beer indeed. Not heard of Craft before but I see it is frighteningly close to Farringdon station. A good refuge for when the usual TfL random closures are in place on the way home.

Would make a good venue for another London STW meet-up involving beer. Organisation is absolutely not my strong point, but if someone is and can post up a date/time, happy to turn up and say hello....!

If you're into pubs that sell a staggering range of exotic ales, and don't mind it being a bit, trendy try Mason & Taylor up in Shoreditch.

isn't it around £5:50 a pint though? while i can afford it i would still rather go to numerous other good beer pubs in the area and pay 'normal' prices. it's not exactly in a real ale desert round there as you are spoiled for choice.

Priced by volume, MrSmith. Nice idea, I think. Most of the lighter, ordinary stuff is normal London prices, some of the silly stuff isn't!

£5:50

worth it in my search for the ultimate dark ale/ porter, which I'd prefer to drink in halves.
I was thinking of going there for my next birthday anyway so I won't be buying...

A pint of Lovibonds 69 was nearly £7 in the Rake, but worth every penny. Mind you sometimes it's about quality not quantity, halves or thirds are the way forward.

Am I alone in not liking all this choice? A good boozer in my view does not need lots of taps, two of the best in London, the Jerusalem being one, are pretty close to this pub.

Agreed, it doesnt.

But having lots of taps doesnt mean it isnt either.

Choice doesnt mean you have to try them all, but it often means you'll be able to get one you really like.

Euston Tap is good, as is the St Peters Place it's way better beer on tap.

Southampton Arms in Gospel Oak worth a look as is the Old Fountain near Old Street.

William IV in Leyton worth a shot as well.
