Would you bother polishing / painting / de-scratching a car to sell?
Every panel has a scratch, one rust spot on wheelarch, one dent on lower sill one side, two dents on A pillar, two more on roof edge. Inside missing trim at back seats. Missing a rear wiper as the motor blew and it gets in the way of a bike rack.
Car (05 Touran with high miles) worth in perfect nick £2k, currently worth maybe £1k as a running motor...
I can see that to polish a few bits would cost £500+, but even if you only just re-coup that, it would sell more easily IMO.
Thoughts?
Honest description on eBay and let it go.
Polish - yes. Touch up paint - maybe, diy if you can be bothered. Replace wiper - yes.
Has to be worth getting one of those dent guys out?
They're not expensive and you wouldn't believe how good a job they do (or at least they did on my wife's car).
Choppersquad...was it expensive ?
Not at all.
The guy we had took three dents out and I think it was about £80.
You honestly couldn't even see where they'd been. Obviously if the paint has cracked it'd be a different story though.
They should come and give free quotes so you'd have nothing to lose.
Maybe we were really lucky as it was someone who knew a friend of ours?
Hmmm, free quotes would be worth getting.
I asked a similar question a short while ago. I just gave it a good wash and tcut what I could. Garage guy was pretty honest (or trying to trick me), said it was a waste of time me getting it spruced up because he could do it at cost and a lot quicker, i.e. he'd bodge it for a sale.
