Canon don't have a Windows 10 driver for my old MP190. The default Windows one seems OK for the printer, but not for the scanner.
I tried the Windows 8.1 64 bit one as recommended by some on the Microsoft website, but haven't got it to work (Example of Windows community recommendations).
There seem to be lots of websites offering Windows 10 MP190 drivers, or general scanner drivers, but I'm out of touch with who to trust, and I'm wary of downloading a virus.
Could anyone please recommend a good source?

I wouldn't trust any of those dodgy driver sites, what happens when you try and install the one from W8?

The only tool other that I would trust other than windows update or the official Canon site would be Snappy Driver Installer. However it is a bit of a techie's tool, so the UI leaves a bit to be desired.

You'd need to run it, select to download the indexes, then let it rescan the hardware.

A slightly leftfield approach would be to use Virtualbox to run an older copy of Windows to do your scanning. You'd need a license and media etc though.

Thanks for your help. I was being dim - I was expecting the .exe file I downloaded from Canon to install the UI as well as the W8.1 driver. I've download the scanner app from Microsoft, and that seems to work OK.

SORTED - THANKS.

Or try VueScan. It includes its own drivers, so you don't need to install them from Canon etc. And its much more useful and a nicer interface than most bundled scanner software.
It says it supports that Canon. https://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/canon_mp190.html

I was going to say, my MP160 will only install the printer drivers but Win10 will do the scanning part itself through fax and scan.
