I've seen a couple of members refer to a way to easily get back into threads that you've responded to, as we used to be able to with the forum activity function in the user profile. One mentioned a #hashtag method.

Could someone please explain how to do that, until the former functionality is restored.

I'm not having a whinge, and definitely can't be faffed trawling through the 40 page Forum Update thread on the off chance of finding an answer, so please leave this up until there's been a reply! Ta.

Go to your profile, click forums, click replies created. Click the hashtag next to the posted xxx time ago

Boom - there it is!

That info should definitely have been a sticky for a couple of days as, for me, it was the largest omission from the upgrade.

Thanks Simon.

Yep, still hoping the actual useful page that lets you know if the topic has been replied too comes back. Anyone care to say yes or no?

There's an easier solution, but you're going to need 8 wizards and 2cc of mouse blood....

Just for something to do, I set up a new forum in m lunchbreak. It's brill. You can get to your last posts in just 2 (yes! TWO!) clicks. You can even have an avatar (unfortunately. can't be switched off). It's keeping me happy, quoting myself and laughing at my bestest trolls/jokes/pisstakes. I might stay there.

I just edited out all that shit. That and the inability to resolve SwiftKey makes the posting/quoting lottery a real joke ATM😐

Good for you.  Now import nine million posts and however many thousands of user accounts we have on here.  Then we'll start worrying about all the other systems it integrates with, like e-commerce and advertising networks.

You're going to have to explain what you mean.  As i said, it's not a feature I ever used.  Can you reply to the sticky please, then everything's in one place.

I will again.... but put simply it's a list of all the thread titles you have replied in and the post count, time you last posted and time of the last post with the useful thing we used to have where the hover over was the last poster not a Reply to the thread name next to this hover over... It used to be under your Forum Activity page as the main thing

TBF, it's entirely why you posted it. (-:

I do take your point, but we've discussed this before and it's not that simple.

No, honestly, I thought there are soooo many disgruntled STW users, that I would set up a temporary forum, so they could have a whinge on there and come back here when it's sorted. But I keep thinking that will be sooner rather than later, so it won't be needed....

But if the new STW one can't do the basics, then doing those other things really doesn't matter.

Is there a way to see the threads you've replied to? Like you used to be able to see it. Not by message, by thread

Doesn't matter to you, maybe.  I've no idea what other business decisions need to be taken to account in terms of what's most important.

Surely it's far more important what matters to oldnpastit than the tech bods designing the forum. It's called the Voice of the Customer, if he's not satisfied and eventually goes elsewhere, then all the links to advertising and e-commerce won't matter a bit. Horse before the cart is another way of looking at it.

Anyway, apologies for opening a

can or worms

How about changing the # symbol to clickable text of “Jump to Post/Thread”

Absolutely spot on tthew. I can't help feeling that a lot of the decisions being taken for dubious reasons - I can't see any obvious functional reason not to just use https://cse.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx=002353871167780190211:ffna6g0opko for the search - though I'm sure there are other reasons.

Sorry Cougar, don't like shooting the messenger, but that's pretty disingenuous - you know as well as I do that the dev work involved in fixing most of the issues people are currently having is completely unrelated to the size of the DB. Sure migration is an issue and performance is an issue with a larger DB, but what we're talking about here is basic front end functionality, not the back end DB interface.

It wasn't intentionally disingenuous, merely the first example I thought of.  It's easy to sit here and go "well, it's only a forum, how hard can it be" when you don't actually have the first idea of how hard it can be.  I thought the same thing until I spent an afternoon at STW towers.  I'm going to start referring to the previous forum software as "Cthulu" I think.

Well it's software dev - has a single professional software developer on here come out in support of the release process? Though as I've mentioned, personally I'm currently working on a web based system with a DB back end, so I'm fairly familiar with the difference between migration of a large DB and fixing front end functionality.

Though TBH Debz isn't so far off the mark - you can set up a forum in a few hours - a forum which has all the functionality missing or not working here. That's if you use standard forum software (which works fine for so, so many other sites) rather than feel the need to customise everything because you're different.

Sorry Cougar, I really don't want to have a go at you, being seeing as Mark is too scared to engage with us you get caught in the crossfire.
