By way of an update. Third call to Richard in customer services on Tuesday and he tells me the CO2 pump I ordered on May 13th was no longer in stock (was when I ordered it.....) . Massive apologies, and eventually swapped the pump for a nice jersey that cost a fair bit more to make up for it. Arrived this morning. Nice jersey, nice gloves, light looks fine. So. Anyone recommend a CO2 inflator? Not the PX Aero one, obviously.

I try to be polite to the CS people. It's not directly their fault.

I think one of the biggest problems they have is their stock control system. It just doesn't function as it should.
If someone buys something, it should decrement the stock counter. That means someone else can't buy it. It's not rocket science.

My last 2 or 3 orders have had this problem. My current order is experiencing the same. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

I'll say it again, treat people how you'd want to be treated. They aren't servants/low lifes/scum/etc. They are humans and passionate about cycling.

Years ago mrshora rang HSBC and was rude. It took me back what and how she said it (no swearing). She was put on terminal hold. Lesson learnt.

So servants are fair game? What level does that go to? My cleaner?

Yawn... Atlaz looking for an argument where there is none.

Just for balance; I haven't made any purchases from PX in the past few months and there have been zero, yes zero cock ups. I'm a very happy non customer.

Carry on, as you were.

Actually I found the servants comment quite interesting. I'm personally of the opinion that you treat everyone with respect until they treat you badly and even then you respond with restraint where possible, however I though it odd that some people are somehow exempt from respectful treatment

See Downton Abbey for how to treat your servants....

Bought a road wheel off Planet-X to complete my build. Paid money. Confirmation of order received. After two days no sign of wheel or of confirmation of shipping. Rang up and spoke to nice guy who promised to look into it and call me back. Didn't call me back (and not convinced he looked into it either). Called back next day, polite but firm, refused to be fobbed off. This guy couldn't even find my order on the system, despite me having a confirmation number. Eventually transpired that the wheel was out of stock. They refunded my money.

Compare that to Merlin who took an order fro me at 2pm on the 23rd of December and had it with me for 10am on Xmas eve (standard delivery). I've ordered loads of stuff from Merlin, Winstanley, CRC, bike-discount.de and various others and never had an issue.

The fact that nobody at Planet-X could be bothered to contact me to say my order was out of stock and then didn't get back to me and then could find no trace of my order indicates that something is badly wrong.

If some of the posters on here think that that is an acceptable way to run a customer facing business then I can only think that they may well find themselves looking for new jobs sooner rather than later.

On the tangential note of this thread, I've always lived by the maxim that you should be very polite to people who prepare your food, people who prepare your drinks, people who prepare your clothes and people who have the power to incarcerate you 😉

Merlin are on a different level. Much like CRC used to be years ago.

I imagine Merlin is run by a crack-team of German Bureaucrats.

I have been seriously impressed with Rose bikes recently. Bought a few bits and bobs and they arrived surprisingly fast from Germany. Bought a pair of road wheels for a mate which were very cheap and very nicely built. Just bought some Ultegra/Open pro wheels for £196 - you can't buy the hubs and rims alone for that price in the UK, never mind the SSDB spokes and building them. Service is very professional.

Oh dear. Too good to be true.
Yet another order failed due to lack of stock control.
I love PX bikes. Just had enough now. I'd rather pay more and actually get something I think.

I'm sure I'll be tempted back one day with their great 'too good to be true' offers. But seemingly they are too good to be true.

Poor CS bloke I spoke to sounded really frustrated with their stock control. I feel sorry for them, having to deal with so many complaints about it. He reckoned nigh on 50% of calls.

FWIW, Dave from Planet X once told me on this very forum that I was being too nice to the folk I was speaking to whilst trying to get a long-standing issue resolved.
