We stayed in a room on a houseboat

A properly lovely experience with a chilled artist host.
It looks like that specific one might not be available any more but there are some more similar on the website......some are way out of your budget but staying on a houseboat made it for us. Probably loads more on airbnb.
I can recommend the De Hallen hotel, it's in a converted tram depot.
The rear of the building has a food hall with all kinds of different food stalls and various bars also situated in a quiet neighbourhood but still pretty central
We stayed here a few years ago, lovely place to stay, small and quiet...
I've also stayed in the Ibis right next to the train station, very handily positioned.
I stayed here last year for my 40th it was excellent.

I normally stay at the Rho Hotel or the Golden Tulip they are both decent and very central.
