Anyone else having problems charging their Pixel after an update?
A system update took places the other day (eating 25gb of data 🤬) and since then the phone has been refusing to charge when plugged in.
Tried various cables and chargers.
Battery diagnostics says there's no issue whilst at the same time saying "connected, but not charging".
Phone gets hot despite no charge going to the battery.
Randomly it'll start charging for 30 minutes or so and then stop again.
The little Lightning bolt ⚡ symbol is there when plugged in, but battery level drops.
What model of Pixel?
Not had that problem here, even after last week's update to Android 17(?)
Mine was last updated 5th July and there are no current updates for it. It's been charging as normal. Pixel 8 Pro.

All fine on my 10 with latest update. Take a look at battery charging settings? There's some in there where the charging tries to guess when you need it to be 100% so it schedules the charge, but I thought that was for overnight.

Check there's no fluff etc in the charging port. My 8 has once failed to charge since the update but it was saying it was too hot (and it was).
Go into WhatsApp Settings / Chats / Chat backup.
Disable end-to-end encrypted backup.
Enable it again.
Also, why aren't you doing system updates over Wi-Fi? Doing it across the data network is a setting you have to explicitly enable.

That seems a lot for a phone update?
I would have guessed that a mid life update would have been 1-3gb?
My Xiaomi updates are something in the 1-3gb and that's probably including some unnecessary bloat that I wouldn't think that pixel phones got?
I'd factory reset it and start again assuming your data is backed up somewhere?

8a here. Updated to Android 17 on 5th July and no issues since then. If anything I'd say battery life has got slightly better but nothing significant.

This is worth a good clear out. I've had it before where the USB-C was barely holding on because it was being pushed out by fluff. It was in enough to register as charging but it wasn't getting a good enough connection to charge in a stable way. Those little plastic toothpick/floss things are good for hooking in and getting fluff out.
You can buy a type of charger that charges phone batteries that have been removed out of the phone.
Not sure if you lose internal settings/pics/numbers, but i suppose its just the same scenario if the phone runs out of charge. I admit to not really knowing about these things, but your post brought up a memory of seeing such at some point
If it's compatible you could try a wireless charger - that would at least tell you if there was something wrong with the charging port

I live in a van. I've a WiFi router, but that also runs off a SIM card/data.
Not sure if all that 25gb was an update, but it was attributed to Google Play and I've not downloaded any apps recently.
Back to the battery.....
Cleaned port with shaved down toothpick. Nothing there.
Used various chargers and different wattage USB sockets.
The phone does charge, just very intermittently.
Charge for five minutes it'll go from 55-59% then stay there or even drop over the next 30-45 minutes before charging again. All the time the⚡ symbol is present even when the battery is discharging.
Latest update on my 9 Pro has seen a slight drop in battery life...more oddly is the amount of space being taken up by app...105gb and I can't work out quite where that is coming from...
