Other day I was treated to having to pay the same price for a pint of shandy as a pint of the lager that it was made from at 3.55 when lemonade was only 1.75 a pint. Was told this was standard industry practise for 20 years.. Grr. rip off.

Steady, the northerners will be fainting at having to pay more than £3.00 a pint 🙂

I worked in a pub when I was 18 or 19 and it was the case back then. I'm 38 now. Always thought it was stupid.

The northerners do not drink this 'shandy' that you speak of

£1.75 for a pint of lemonade is cheap.

Should've bought a half of lager and small lemonade and asked for it in the same glass.

Mrs! Sounds like she's some sort of girl, drinking shandy....

I met my Mrs when she was sick on me after drinking pints of Babycham, then she punched me after I pinched a chip.

Happy days..

weren't too long ago the only lemonade in a lot of pubs came out of those tiny britvic bottles- a shandy made with those cost a damned sight more than a pint of beer, and the cost of drinking soft drinks for a night was astronomical.

I think you'll find that part of astronaut training was to get them to drink proper beer, not shandy or other lemonade containing beverages.

if you're gonna have a shandy may as well have a soda water and lime. usually about 50p or so for a pint.

I think you'll find most astronauts are American.

Which is why the training took so long; they had to come to Lancashire and live on our street to get used to;

a) being in Foreign, and,
b) drinking proper beer.

50p? Should be free Kev, if yer getting it with other drinks...

Shandy's ok if it's proper 'ot and you need to stay hydrated, speshly during/after a long bikey. I'd prefer that 2% pish lager for that purpose though really, as shandy's too sweet.

Or just a normal pint, with a glass of water.

Or just half a pint and half a lemonade.

Oh....

Do they, and this is a relatively serious question, have what is known in Liverpool as a Lager touch or a Lager top in that London?

I went to Liverpool with a friend who said 'Ooh I'll have a Lager touch', which turned out to be a pint of lager with a little, or wee for our Scottish viewers, splash of 'lemmo' in.

I was excited to learn about different cultures.

Kev, I was in a foreign place and I had to do what the foreign people did. I drank beer, but my friend, who was a bit like Elfinsafety in that his parents were from proper foreign, wanted a pint of 'Lager touch', and so I concurred with his wishes.

Yeah Lager Top in That London.

I've never had one meself. WTF is the point of that? 😕

I do like the occasional Bloody Mary, I must say. It has to be done propply though. Tabasco, not Worcestershire sauce. And plenty of salt.

Maybe a dash of Worcestershire sauce then. But go easy ffs! 😯

Otherwise it ruins it, you know?

Lime is a nice alternative to lemon; makes for a smoother drink imo.

And don't go bunging flipping vegetables in it I don't want half a pound of potatoes and a cauliflower in me drink!
