Mrs OTS is finally going to start taking her own pilates class.
She's been trained for years, but only given classes at work and provided holiday cover other teachers in the area.
As the resident techie (sic) I've been tasked with setting up the booking / payment system.
My professional view with these things is to keep them as lightweight, generic and simple as possible.
So my idea is:
1. Very simple 1 page website with details of about, when and where
2. Very simple shopping cart with the ability to buy a block of lessons.
There'll be an associated twitter account to deal with announcements etc., but that is basically all that is required at the front end.
So what simple web dev platform and shopping cart should I be looking at?
I've used WordPress in the past, but it feels a bit OTT for this simple setup.
What about wix, sitebuilder.com, godaddy etc.?
TIA
Alot of places use Mindbody it does booking but not sure about payment's
I think mindbody does payments as well- and it has an app.
mindbody looks good, but for 1 class per week, £75 a month is a bit too much.
The place I go to has a website with the class timetables and contact details on. Pay for a term by bank transfer or cash.
Everyone in the class gets a group email a week before the next term starts, replies to book their place.
It seems simple enough and appears to work.
I read that as “Pirate glasses ...”. 06:30 here probably explains it.
Chipster - that sounds good. Can’t get much simpler than that!
My wife goes to a class. Payment by bank transfer with a small discount if paid before a certain date.
Thanks all - wix looks ok, just going to have a look at godaddy
Tried a whole selection out last year for exactly the same application. Found that Bookwhen had the best selection of features for the price.

My wife is also a Pilates teacher and has a simple website soulbalancepilates.co.uk which states class times etc. People then contact her for more info. She sends out an email at the start of each term and payment is made via Bacs or cash. People can also buy a bulk amount of tokens from her that can be redeemed at anytime and any of the venues she teaches at. All she asks is that you let her know that you intend to join them the day before so she can confirm spaces.
Most of the group mat sessions are poeple of the older generation, so don’t really use the website or know how to transfer online. We now have a studio at home with equipment in and that is mainly younger people or re habilitations who pay for a block of 1:1’s.
I had a go on the strange looking torture machine in her studio last week and couldn’t move he following day!! Not as easy as you may think!!
Best of luck to your wife
My wife uses a service from a nice chap called Tim for this kind of thing for her Forest School sessions. His website is tickedit.com
Thanks all, especially chris36860
I hadn't considered the demographic of the users, but the less than tech savie is a very good point. Some user research required I think.
