I have a phone interview in an hour; I have never done one of these before but have done a lot of research into the company and the job. Have any of you got any tips to help me?

Stand up, and smile - even if they can't see you, it changes your psychology and your voice.

Assume a comedy accent...

Swedish or Dutch work well, as does a Brum accent.

Well it is for a job in Glasgow and I'm from Hampshire so I suspect they will find my accent pretty funny anyway.

I could try it naked or even in some ladies underwear, somehow I feel this may not help.

So does anyone have any useful tips?

2nd standing and smiling, i made sure i was busy writing a report when they phoned, no idea if any of those things helped, but made me feel a whole lot less nervous as;
a)i wasnt sat there bricking it
b)something to talk about to start with (presuming you've got something to do that is relavent)

ohh and make sure you've got phone signal/battery and somewhere quitet, i ended up wandering arround uni looking for a signal!

Just be yourself. Simple as that really!

But any tricky technical questions they might ask you, have answers either memorised or written down on paper in front of you. Last couple of phone interviews I had I was a bit sneaky. Just in case I forgot anything I had my laptop open and Googled anything I couldn't quite remember. Was only one thing mind!

Oh, and do it in a VERY quiet room. Somewhere you know you're not going to get interrupted at all...

definitely do it standing up, there'll be less pressure on your diaghram, so if you're feeling tense, you should be ok, less breathy..

write down some bullet points on card with lots of space between them so they can be scanned through really quickly

and finally, good luck!

Stand up / walk around. That'll relax you, and that'll show in your voice and responses. Have a glass of water handy in case you dry up. Make sure the environment is quiet.

Headset/handsfree can also be good at freeing up your movement as you talk.

[sensible]
Write down any key words/phrases or jargon you want to use.

Write down the key points that you want to get across

Tick them off as you mention them so you don't keep repeating them.
[/sensible]

turn up the vibration speed on your butt plug

If it is a chick doing the interview, start cranking one off. When you get the job tell her what a pleasure the interview was.

How are you getting on with the MG? Just curious.

The MG is going great, I've had a few minor problems: leaky tank, brakes going on fire but nothing serious. Shes so much fun to drive and a bit of a head turner. I'm not sure whether I can take her to Scotland if I get the job 🙁

Thanks for the advise guys I hope it goes well.

I just had a (non phone) interview with a young heidi klum. It was all I could do to not crank one off there and then. (had to wait til I was back in my hotel room) I was offered the job so probably a good thing I restrained myself.

oh - one more tip: if the interviewer asks what you are wearing, be warned that maybe it isn't a proper interview.

Great tips, stand up naked, yank one off whilst putting on a Dutch accent and remember to turn up the butt plug. hahahahaha

I've got a tip, don't remember any of the tips whilst you're on the phone. Good luck!

Wow that was certainly one of the scariest experiences of my life. I'd take a black downhill run over that any day.

Never the less I feel it went very well, I had two giggle Scottish lasses interviewing me. They seemed very nice. Now I just hope I get the job.

The job is in Cathcart, Glasgow. I take it there is good riding around there.

If you know your stuff, you know your stuff. Doesn't matter if it's a phone interview or not 🙂
