If you mean encrypting the whole hard drive - Nope youll hardly notice. but check hardware compatibility carefully before you install it. I've had some nasty surprises with incompatible dell controllers iirc.

I have to use it for work, and it's alright. Buggers up Outlook occasionally, but no particular issues.

Pretty sure there are cheaper ways to encrypt a hard drive though, unless you need the PGP email.

If you're encrypting the HDD, I'd look at Truecrypt and Bitlocker first.

Truecrypt rocks.

I'd personally recommend TrueCrypt.

We tried Bitlocker on our laptops here, and ended up with all sorts of problems with drivers locking up the entire thing. Not sure if resolved, but your mileage may vary.

also watch out for issues with hibernate mode which can take an age to restore from if thats important for you.

If you want to work in an encrypted environment use Truecrypt.

If you want to encrypt the odd file use Winzip, 7zip etc. with a password.

(to be fair, Symantec get a lot of undue stick; I'd genuinely be open to hearing how Endpoint Encryption is better than Truecrypt)
