[Closed] Petrol - Does it degrade over time and if so where can I dispose of it?

Had some unleaded in a petrol can for around 2 years from when I had a petrol leaf blower, since sold.

Now got a new chainsaw and wondering whether this 2 year old petrol will be OK? or should I chuck it and get fresh?

Chainsaw is decent Husky so dont want to put any old crap in it. Google search seems to suggest a shelf life of 6 months for petrol?

If I need to chuck it, where can I dispose of it?

chuck it and get fresh.

tbh, if you have a petrol car then chuck it in a nearly full tank to dilute it and burn it that way.

2l should dispose of the odds and ends that your chainsawing creates quite well, just pour evenly and add a match ๐Ÿ™‚

Or tip some into the tank of your diesel - it won't matter.

Use it to clean your chains, cassette & de-grease bike bits.

good thinking, but I will have to try:

pour it on the road and drive over it at 88 mph. - you never know

I always wanted a hoverboard, and i am sure they were supposed to have been invented by now.

That video reminds me of the time I tried to get rid of a wasp next in my compost heap by pouring petrol in there and lighting it.. Compost heap ended up spread over adjacent gardens hehehe got rid of the wasps though ๐Ÿ™‚

It'll be fine in a chainsaw, lawnmower etc. I used to leave my bike for nearly a year and it was fine also (full tank). I've got a 2.8kw generator thats had unleaded in the tank for over five years now and even that still runs!

I couldn't start an old Briggs & Stratton with a tank of old petrol I had for love nor money.

In the end a fresh tank started it no problems at all. I still have the old petrol for my MSR stove though.

It'll work in a two stroke engine. The oil helps. Unleaded goes off very quickly.

It will be fine. The light ends will have gone which might cause problem starting, but after that it will be just dandy.
