We're off to Pembrokeshire at the end of the summer holidays and would like to find a beach suitable for bodyboarding. The kids (8 & 10) have loved Bantham in Devon so something similar would be great.
Newgale looks good and close by, any others worth checking out?

Whitesands or Caerfai are a couple of options. Newgale is good, but very exposed.

Too many to mention. My favourites are Broadhaven and Barafundle in South Pembroke, but that might be too much of a schlep for you guys, unless you're trying to get out of a northwesterly wind.

Broad Haven is nice. Wide and sandy. A few more facilities than Newgale, same bit of coast.

Another vote for Broad Haven and Little Haven. Beautiful stretch of coast.

Whitesands just outside St Davids is good but will be packed. Newgale has a huge beach so you can always find some space. Marloes Sands is well worth a trip.

Probably too far away, but Manorbier is a nice beach - good bodyboarding and loads of great rock pools for the times when the kids aren't in the sea.

If the surf is small and tey are desperate to surf then Freshwater west will pick up any ripple going. It's a beautiful remote beeach too. However I wouldnt recommend it if there is much motion in the ocean is there can be currents due to te variable sandbars. Pesrsonallly I think WHitesands is a much nicer beach than Newgale and not that far away. St Davids itself is good for a look around too.

I was going to suggest Freshwater West, but I was last there about 50 years ago, it may have changed since.

Fresh West is well known for big waves and big rip tides.

Hence why i said only if surf is small as its for his kids...

If Newgale is flat, still a chance there would be something for the kids to mess around on at Fresh.

@CountZero... I guess it looks about the same.. maybe with a few more national trust signs!

another vote for broad haven lovely shallow sloping beach, good facilities , lifeguard patrols just in case . new gale is well named always seems windier and more exposed

no dogs on one half of beach during summer months.
