We’re on the road to the Peaks for the day from the fens. Where should we start and ride? Hope? Join in for a real time ST thread adventure!

How much gas is in the tank? Park up at Edale, out round Jacobs around to hayfield up rushup across mam tor descend back down to edale. Then if you’ve still got go left out edale the other way, follow the little bridleway on the left, up to the Roman road down the beast up the hagg farm side up to win Lee tor and back down and around. Good day out that. About 65k i think. All pretty good in slop apart from the little link between edale and the beast.

Oh and STW pedant mode - it’s the peak. 😉

You've set off for a days cycling without preparing where you're riding?

Nick's suggested ride above is very good but you'll easily get lost without a garmin or maps n stuff.

I’d start in Hope or Hayfield but I reckon you’ll need a map if you haven’t ridden there before.

It’s looking windy out there 💨

Just about to head out myself. Wave if you see a baby blue Nordest Bardino.

Thanks for these. We do know the area reasonably but have heard of sanitising of trails etc. Nick’s idea is probably, maybe doable for us!?

Ok good. I'd start in Hope or Castleton and head up the broken Road to start. That way you can end after WLT by crossing the dam and over the hill through the forest, down roman Road to finish in hope for tea at Cafe adventure or one of the pubs.

Not quite the Fens, but we pop up to The Peak from East Northants a few times a year.

Our default loop is Hope > Roman Road > Beast > back up to Hope Cross > Potato Alley > up to Lockerbrook > Lockerbrook descent to the reservoir > across at the dam > up and across to WLT > Cutthroat Bridge descent > quick road spin > up the Screaming Mile (or up to the farm and across the top) > Hagg Side switchbacks > up The Beast > Roman Road descent.

About 35km of up and down, all weather fun.

The double Edale / Ladybower loop is awesome but it's a big day out. Personally I'd save it for the summer.

Avoid Baslow if you can, it's Chatsworth Christmas Market atm. It will be chokka. If it's not too late, go via Barlow, owler bar, longshaw and Hathersage, then on to Ladybower area.
