Quite surprising, seemed a pretty grounded and sensible bloke for a fashion designer.
Some nice bikes to!
As much as I instinctively (and I suspect this is what you're getting at w_d) want to find something to dislike about a fashion type, he always comes across as a decent bloke. Of course, he's bike mad which is always a good thing. He's remained as loyal as possible to the town in which he started up. I shelled out what felt like an eye-watering amount at the time on a Paul Smith suit for my wedding ten years ago - it's still one the best things I ever wore - I felt like a million dollars in it - as shallow as that sounds to me now, I can't deny it. I'd quite happily buy one again - I just don't spend so much on clothes anymore. To see him go to where he is now from a 9 square metre shop can't be denied as a hell of an achievement in fashion, while remaining a quintessentially British brand - it's a hell of a story. I dunno...there must be something not to like about him. ๐
