We will be in touch
As some of you will have noticed, I've been living in Australia for the past 3 ½ years, and you may also have noticed that as of last week I've become a dad. Now obviously minizokes needs a passport of some description to travel to the UK, but can she do so on an Australian one without a visa?
She will be eligible for a British passport too, but a) that takes at least six weeks, and b) UKPA want not only her birth certificate, but also her Australian passport. This a) takes the piss a bit, and b) would mean that we couldn't come back to show sprog to crumblies until later than planned (and heading towards UK school holiday pricing on places to stay).
Any knowledge or experience most welcome!
NO, in most cases you do not need a visa to come to the UK for a short visit
You told us that
you are a national of Australia.
you are coming to UK to Visit.
you are normally and legally living in Australia.
What do you need to do?
If you are coming to the UK for a short visit (up to 6 months), you generally do not need a visa. However, you should bring documents with you to show our immigration officers when you arrive at the UK border.

Yup, no need to bother getting a uk passport just for the trip. I've been back to the uk twice with the missus (au passport) and the sprog (au passport but eligible for uk passport) and neither of them had a visa.
You'll probably be fine but it would do any harm to call immigration and check.
Cheers guys. We'll get her a UK passport eventually, but for now she can stay an Aussie. She's a bloody glory supporter in cricket terms 🙁
