I'm taking my daughter and her friend to a gig there tomorrow night (driving). I understand that there isn't loads of parking available but the venue website says to park in Car Park E on Cecil Street. Is it likely to be a problem getting parked if we get there for around 6/6.30pm on a Friday night? If I can't park there, is there anywhere else closeby to park?

I've parked there for a gig at the academy. You should be ok at that time I think. Academy is just around the corner.

Car park is a decent size. Bit of a bottleneck getting off the car park after the gig.

Other car park i use is on Store street but its further away.

Thank you. I guess it can get busy, especially when each room is booked out (as they are tomorrow night, although only the one is sold out). Asha Banks for my daughter, Stiff Little Fingers for me 🙂

We use the multi storey at the aquatic centre, it's less than 10 minutes walk from  the academy, easy to get in/out, 5.50 for four hours, book online.

Last time I drove we ussed the Q-Park on Hathersage Road - but then we're coming from South of town

Ta - it's good to know we have an alternative if required.

I’d opt for the aquatic centre car park over Cecil street. Further to walk but easy to get to and has plenty of space.

the car park at the MRI, accessed from upper brook street->Grafton street (don’t drive onto Oxford road from this street) might also have space.

Is this the same location as the Academy 3? If so, we just parked in a side road (approached from Levenshulme on a long straight road and turned left onto it, sorry, don't know Manc too well!)

If I can't get in the street I park in the hospital just across the road,  watch out don't go on Oxford Road before 9pm you'll get fined

I believe so, the three spaces are all in the same building as far as I am aware.

Yeah, I have seen that – actually organised myself upfront for once and created a Google map that deliberately avoids it.

I work right next door to the academy and I'd say the Aquatics Centre car-park is your best bet. It's a ten min walk to the venue but will be easier to find and access/leave the aquatics centre car-park etc.

Burlington Street/Pencroft way have free parking in the evening, no idea of they'll be well used by other people but always used to be pretty quiet when I parked there a few years ago
