Who have they lined up though? Benitez is suddenly free, would he take over again? They treated him pretty shoddily last time around, especially the fans, what would it take for him to walk through the revolving door again?

No on else notable is currently free that I can think of, and its not like going to chelski is seen as a career boost or a permanent position.

edit: actually Tuchel is free as well isn't he, but he never really impressed at PSG.

Tuchel I think. Maybe Rodgers, which Binners will be praying for, to avoid Leicester doing another Leicester? Avram Grant as caretaker until the end of the season?

Bit harsh on Frank but ironic if player power did for him.

But I’m just loving being 6 points clear of the scousers, putting them out of the FA cup

Commemorative DVD on sale already I heard.

Isn't lovely to see Utd fans having something to celebrate again after having won the League and the FA Cup in January. 5+ years in the dumps does some strange things!

You try watching a couple of seasons of what Jose Mourhino serves up as football and see what effect it has on you 😉

This sums up some of my thoughts on football at the moment, though it's just about VAR never mind no crowds etc.

I read that article on Saturday and completely agree that’s VAR is ruining the game.

What’s absolutely infuriating is the offsides. WTF is going on with the linesmen not flagging for offsides until the ball is in the back of the net. It’s an absolute farce! Why bother having linesmen any more?

I think Abramovich should sack the next manager before he starts.

He should have a go himself (he probably will one day)!

In one of the articles yesterday, it said that chelski had spent 140 million paying off sacked managers during the Abramovich era.

I know football money is fantasy anyway these days, but that is a startling figure.

140 what, roubles? The figure on BBC Sport was £110, with Jose getting the biggest slice of that, but he did have two bites. Sarri got a very respectable £26.6 million all to himself.
However, if you’ve read Catherine Belton’s book you’ll know what the plan was/is, so considering the BILLIONS floating around it’s a drop in the ocean really.

I was going to say that 110 or even £140M isn't all that much these days, given what a work class player costs in transfer fees, wages and agent fees.

Watching Chelsea, they seem to have 5 or 6 players that are a clone of each other.
New management are still there.

Chelski just have too many players. Don’t they famously have miles more players on their books than any other club? That’s why the transfer ban was always a nonsense. They had players out on loan all over Europe. It’s been a very profitable production line for Ambramovic.

Half the problem with Frank was that he never seemed to play the same squad two weeks running. Always chopping and changing. After 18 months in the job he still didn’t look like he had a clue what his best starting eleven was

Look at the squads that are firing and it’s the same starting line-up week in, week out, with the odd rotation

Perhaps they’re focusing on the Champions League?

Woeful! Looks like we’d reverted to the sideways sideways backwards nonsense under Maureen. No final ball.

Fair play to Sheffield. They thoroughly deserved the win. We were awful. Cavani and Shaw should both be starting every game

What makes it even worse is that Bolton-supporting ABU, Mrs Binners had a fiver on Sheffield and is absolutely loving this!

Man U back in crisis again

You’re still 6 points behind us. Let’s see how you get on against spuds tomorrow. Barely worth watching. We all know the Maureen game plan...

Sticking with my prediction that the title is Citeh’s to lose. And I can’t see them doing that

They will lose it if they sign Diego Costa as Micah Richards suggested.

He can start a fight in an empty room.

There’s no way Pep would sign a player like Costa. He’s horrible

Having said that, one of the best matches I’ve ever watched was ‘the Battle of Stamford Bridge’. Costa set the tone and pretty much every player on the pitch could have and probably should have been sent off 😂

Watched it with my daughter, who’s a pretty handy centre back, and being used to modern refereeing, she couldn’t believe what she was watching

Costa would fit into a 70’s Leeds team. That’s not Citeh

He’s not a midfielder so Pep won’t be keen.

Yeah Pep is so obsessed with midfielders, he played them as centre backs when all the senior centre backs were injured, what kind of idiotic manager would do that?

Wasn’t bad, was it? A lot more open than expected. I was pleasantly surprised

Must be a relief for the scousers to finally get on the score sheet in 2021? 😂 Considering Maureen is so defensive there was some shambolic defending on display tonight. He looked absolutely livid!

I still can’t see past Citeh winning it but it’s going to be a hell of a run in for the rest of the season. I expect there’ll be a few more bonkers results yet. Top 4 is anybody’s really

Thiago is a very very good player. He's going to make quite a difference this season. And he'll get better when he's fully premier League house trained.

Yep, some pretty ridiculous comments blaming him for the recent poor form. I think Klopp signed him to alter the style a bit, or give more flexibility, a plan b if you will. Him and Fabinho as a pair would be great, if Fabinho is ever allowed out of defence again!

He's a bit instantly defensive on his passes at times for me, even more so than Henderson. But when Thiago comes forward he's got excellent vision and range of passing that's for sure, but too often for my liking he (and the rest in the past few weeks) have been looking square/back instead of forwards. This was also the case for some of the game last night. But happily, not all of it.

The biggest issue currently and it sounds a bit ridiculous to say it, is Mane and Salah, they're both time and time and time again taking the wrong options and being far too easily read by defenders, both of them need a bit of a plan B, Salah more then Mane arguably.

I think Liverpool fans are also feeling a little fickle after blowing everyone away last year it was expected for that to continue and it hasn't, so the come-down has been a little harsh to accept. It's still beautiful football at times, but some of the spark is missing at times.

It is frustrating but I think it's at least partly because teams often park the bus now against Liverpool so the space going forwards is so crowded. Probably explains why they don't look like they're having that much fun any more. I've noticed more players barely celebrating goals now also presumably in case they get chalked off.

People say with Dortmund the same thing happened re parking the bus, so it will be interesting to see if Klopp can figure out a way round it. Getting Jota and VVD back would definitely help. I wonder if Salah is becoming a destabilising presence also.

It has amazed me that it has taken teams so long to actually do that, the same teams that have been doing that against city for at least 2 seasons, just seemed to open up for Liverpool despite the run of games they have been on.

He has got to sort his own attitude out first IMO. I only saw the first half of the game last night (which was the wrong half to see by the sounds of it), but whenever the camera was on Klopp, he looked more to be berating his players for what they had done, rather than encouraging them to do what they should do, reminded me very much of maureens time at united. That plus the fact the media have at last stopped being the liverpool cheer leading section isn't doing the team any favors.

Nah, that's just how he is, that's just her persona, whether winning or losing, i think the players seem perfectly OK with it.

It’ll be good to see him playing again. Interesting that his first game will be against Liverpool.

He likes scoring against Liverpool. And West Ham are pretty handy at the moment

Aye, fair dos, moyes has proved me wrong, I've always said when your star wanes as a manager you're done, moyes has been awesome.

Maureen looked to be bucking that too, but not so sure now. Stories of it all kicking off in the dressing room at half time against Liverpool, Aurier pissed off home.

Lloris was more to blame for the goals tbh but it was all fairly shocking. When you're a team that concentrates on sitting back and defending well then hitting teams on the break, but you don't do the first bit competently... 🤷‍♂️
