Hello.. a little guidance needed

I have built a pergola and run some electrics out to it from the existing outdoor sockets. So basically I have a outdoor double socket on the pergola.

From this socket I have some lights which are just wired using a 3 pin plug. All fine. So if u want to switch the light on you flip the switch on the socket.

I wanted to put an outdoor switch between the plug and light so it would be easier to switch on without opening the waterproof socket lid.

On the switch I have COM which I was going to wire in the live supply and L1 the live Load. It's not clear but I was guessing the neutral in and out are just connected permanently using the connector block in the switch

The thing that confused me was that a neon light is pre connected. One end to com and the other in to the connector block and then on to L1. Does this stay connected when I wire the neutrals to the same connector block?

Yes, leave it connected as it is. I think the idea is the neon light is on if the switch is off. It is on the outside switch I fitted. It's not something I wanted but now it's working it does mean it's dead easy to find the switch in the dark.

Yeah, the neon light is a locator - helps you find it in the dark.
