Been given a working FS96 Stihl, but only just ripped through first tank of fuel after last summer.
Anyone know what oil mix? Web reveals that it is a '4-mix' engine and needs oil - but 50:1 or 100:1 or 200:1????
Pretty sure all stihl engines run on 50:1
I run my T86R Hedgetrimmer on 50:1. I run it a bit lean though. Otherwise it smokes like it's on fire.
My Stihl 034 is 50:1
If you use stihl or husky oil it's 50/1. If you get it from the garage like in the good old days, it's 25/1.
Buy the pre measured oils from any hire shop, add 5 litres of unleaded. Done! Seemples!!
Just add 100ml of two stroke oil to 5 litres of unleaded.
And refill the chain oil tank too.
A 5 litre container of two stroke oil is about £15. Most motor factors stock it.
Cheers all, got the oil, just didn't know the mix. All the engines I use at work (outboards) seem different mixes.
back in the day my dad imported stihl they came in the most robust wooden packing cases. we used to use and sell old car oil that i had to go to the local garage on a saturday with my bogie and pick it up in a drum..
during the school holidays i spent the 6 weeks sharpening the chains and stripping and cleaning whilst the gangs had thier bait. cold tea in a pop bottle ah bliss!
All the Stihl stuff we use at work is 25:1. Thats garden machinery such as leaf blowers and strimmers.
for my saw its 50:1 for sthil oil 25:1 for anything else.
