Any reason not to go to Glenmore Lodge?
Planning on a weekend in June that we want to make a weekend of somewhere pleasant.
Any other recommendations? Based in Fife.
You could contact fife councils outdoor ed department based at Loch ore
Paul - did you miss this bit?
somewhere pleasant
Oooooh! That's low..........true though 😆 .
I learnt to kayak there many years ago 😀
😆
*patiently awaits mattoutandanout*
Ask on Song of the Paddle website. They'll have some suggestions for you.
I canoe quite a lot around Scotland and have heard nothing but praise for Glenmore Lodge.
You won't go too far wrong with Glenmore Lodge, Dave Rossiter who runs the paddlings side has a great reputation.
Kushi Adventures, based near Inverness, may have something to suit, or can tailor something.
Loch Insh outdoor centre is another one.
Matt will no doubt be along soon, as you say!

What’s wrong with Loch ore 🙂
The sailing place on millport does a day taster for open canoes
Hola
The guys are the best in the business - both in being lovely people, but also technically/coaching wise

Tell Julie that Matt Robinson sent you... Then again, they might charge more...
And when you're up for a paddle, LD and I can take you for a river day...
Thank you all, plenty of options to go with, appreciated!
And will do Matt. It’s looking quite a boast based year albeit possibly mostly in coastal skiff.
oooh, tell me about skiffs!
oooh, tell me about skiffs!
Easily avoided by the use of moist toilet wipes.
And a bit on Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Ayles_Skiff
looks fun...

I've done a couple of courses at Glenmore Lodge and have nothing but praise. The courses and instructors were excellent and the off-water side (food and accomodation) were also top notch.
Paddling was on Loch Morlich and the Spey (both suffer from very distracting scenery) although they go further afield for longer courses
Aye, but you have to put up with Rossiter*.... 😉
*whom I barely know...
An early thank you to MattOAB http://www.beyondadventure.co.uk/
Customer service so far has been awesome, hoping to get a rather chilly booking made for February.
Even more hopeful of getting to play of some easy rivers and Lochs this summer!
Whoop!
Oi stop volunteering me for stuff, unless it's boating, or biking or climbing or boarding......
😖
😖
Great couple of days, was with Grant and learnt a lot. Including what it’s like to swim the Tay in winter.
Also, Lifeproof cases are only mostly waterproof.
Good on you. An unplanned swim is rarely pleasant.
You don't want to go open canoeing in Scotland, the weather is awful, the scenery dull, and the rivers boring.
Ooft, Tay swim in February is cold, really cold...
Hide those pictures chowsh, quick...
On the plus side, I now know I can swim out of fast moving water to shore.
(given the right circumstances)

Sounds good, swimming is part of paddling, at least it only gets warmer after that!

Last time I did the Etive it snowed, no swimming, but no way to avoid going under water!
