I've seen this a few times on the forum and again earlier on a thread I can't even remember.

Is this another in joke I don't get or an odd attempt to get around swear filtering?😁

@poopscoop

Sorry it's my fault. Actually it's Google's fault for making such shit phones ( opinion may be divided on that one)🥵

I have s Pixel 4a and I loathe it. In particular I loathe that way it corrects spelling too early in the word, correcting it to completely the wrong word then adding in the rest as giberish.

I also loathe the fact that it seems to have picked up the fact that "s" and "Ng" are words from somewhere. So whenever I type s sentence it is liberally spattered with "S"s rather than "A"s

Also, if I am typing words that end in "ing" for some reason it tries to make a word with the stub and then turns the decks Ng ( there, see it did it again, just then) "ing" Part into "Ng". Sometimes if the stub isn't a proper word on its own it leaves the full word and then sticks a random "Ng" at the end. For example, those kids are fighting Ng.

https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/new-phone-google-pixel-4a-or-something-else/

As per this thread I have searched through both my German and English custom dictionaries to ensue than neither "s" nor "Ng" are in there. I also tried the other suggestions. To no avail.

I usually go back and correct it when it happens, but sometimes if I'm having a rant I can't be arsed. Frequently when I'm having a rant, I tend to swear a lot, at which point my phone chooses the closest non-profane four letter word, adds a space and then the "Ng" .

I can tell you it's duck Ng infuriating Ng

"you don't have any words in the user dictionary Mary"

How weird is that, I swear I typed "you don't have any words in the user dictionary " because that is the message I saw when I followed Fearty's suggestion

WTF?

( And before you ask, my name's not Mary)

Have you tried installing a different keyboard from the App store?

I much prefer to think of generalist's mobile as haunted.

Given some of the ****ing shite he's posted last year I'd be inclined to agree 😄

I only know Ng as a surname (e.g. Andrew Ng). My 4a does the same thing and I always assumed this was the reason.

I just googled it and it doesn't seem to be a particularly common name though

As above, install a different keyboard. There are a few on there.

By the way @thegeneralist I just disabled something called 'glide typing' in the keyboard settings and it doesn't do it anymore. I was accidentally gliding whilst pressing the keys and it was registering as a new word.

Right. I'm going to keep trying for s bit having now disabled glide typing. I'm feeling something might be working better now, having made the change. Ooh that's smashing. I'm typing loads of things with lots of Ings and it's having a surprisingly positive affect. Badaboom badabing.

All looking good so far @chambord. I am thanking you kindly for helping.

One last thing, any idea how to get rid of the errant Ss?. (Pronounced esses)

@thegeneralist

Bloody hell, so this is the end of an era for you, a new beginning perhaps?
