flying to geneva,pick up car then head to watch the tour for 2/3 days with GF,1st few days we're camping then after that no plans...are we gonna struggle to get somewhere? id rather stay in the alps for the obvious attractions but she wants a pool etc....

Check out Abritel.fr. Plenty of gites, etc. on there.
Just organised one near Carpentras for the week I'm down there for the Étape and the penultimate stage of the Tour.

Down south around Nimes/Montpellier/Avignon is nice. Plenty of properties, lots of Roman antiquities to see, the Camargue, good weather, not too far from Geneva.
