Anyone know any tools that can create a large jpeg from a multipage pdf

ie

4 pdf page (done as cover and spreads)

so I need to generate a jpeg

1
23
45
67
8

Don't ask why. I know it's ridiculous. But any help appreciated? btw I want to do it automatically, I'm not for putting it together manually in photoshop.

I know how to convert, this is a specific request about automation.

Simple...screen grab them, then load them into a word processor or a DTP program in the order you want.

Automate the same each time or different? I don't think I quite get it.

Automation would be easy enough if you have a convertor that works from command line and then you can just write a bat file or a simple script, etc.

I'd just do multiple screen grabs then paste them together in a suitable paint package.

If you are on Windows then ALT+PrintScreen to grab the current window and if you don't have an art package then paint.net is good and free.

Edit: sorry just read you don't want to do it mannually. Really? If it is a one-off then doing it manually will probably take less time than looking for an automatic solution.

🙂
Anyway, you could have done it non-automatically in the time you've spent on here!

I reckon you could do this with imagemagick. Might take multiple steps to bind the pages back together into one single jpeg though.

How is your shell scripting? 🙂 http://www.imagemagick.org/script/convert.php

Here's an exmaple of extracting a single page from a PDF and exporting as a JPG

$ convert demo.pdf[2] demo.jpg

some other hints here

Depending what you're looking to do - I've used IcePDF in some Java programs in the past to get pages of PDFs as JPEGs. It could probably do what you want - but not exactly the right tool if you just want something do drag files onto.

If I understand this right, and I'm searching the darker, dusty recesses of my brain here, I think what you need is pagination software of some sort, that can assemble the individual .pdf's into the order they would appear if laid out for printing on a press, which you would then need to save as a .jpg, rather than another .pdf which you would send to a RIP.
You can get various freeware ackages to do this, as well as plug-ins for Indesign, etc.
