So we moved into the new house 6 months ago and decorated throughout. However, the paint on the chimney breast in the dining room has gone a bit odd [see pic] The affected area is about 30cm square. Is this damp or something else? It seems to be spreading...

looks like its blistering, do you use the fireplace ?

it looks like damp leeching salts from the brickwork/plaster and reacting with the paint.
