Why do I keep getting requests for 'friends' from random, newly created accounts - but they are all in Dunblane. They are spammy accounts, all attractive young ladies etc.

What would be gained by the spam-ee's?

I always have a little list of 'People you might know' requests, all of which I completely ignore, unless it's a band or musician I'm interested in who I hadn't realised were on Fb.

Are you getting these requests vie a email of within Facebook? If its the former its trying to trick you to login via a fake link. If its the latter probably someone you know has had their email/address book hacked then the spammer has opened a Facebook account and used facebook's 'let us access your address book and automatically bother everyone you've ever received an email from' function

Friend harvesting?

But they have no / only one friend themselves.

I am happy to keep ignoring and deleting, it just interested me.

Maybe it is just my animal magnetism at work. 8)

Oi! I'm no stalkerist!!!

BTW MOAB the guttering on the back of your new house leaks just under the spare room window, and you need to adjust the sensitivity on your PIR for the garage light.

HTH SbH 😀

EDIT - although flowerpower might be right about somethings...
