The Boss and the kids (13 and 10) want a week in the sun, all incl. hol this October. Not my cup of tea, but a fair compromise as we usually do UK activity outdoorsy bike stuff.

Any ones that are good, or to avoid ? Need flights from Glasgow and looks like around £600 a head 🙁

Have been to the Canaries for the Oct hols for the last 20 years or so. The weather has always been fantastic it's had all summer to warm up

Stay in the tourist hotspots for entertainment & activities or out of town if you prefer to do your own thing

4.5 hr flight goes quickly

In all seriousness though, try Barrhead travel as they use the Prestwick - Tenerife flight, about the only worthwhile flight left going out of Prestwick now.

No canoes though.

Don't go to Ayrshire in a canoe unless you're prepared to squeal like a piggy. 😉

nobeer - ideal (at least the 2nd post 🙂 ) Tenerife seems the obvious solution, and Prestwick is handy

Canaries/Tenerife is a good call balance of costs/weather, Fuertaventura too for something a bit less touristy.

Winter sun can be expensive/risky, we took a punt on Greece/Turkey one year and it was not warm. Other options include Middle East (Dubai or Oman) but usual spots of Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco now have security concerns. Worth noting Club Med have put "on-hold" the opening of their Turkish clubs this year due to security concerns.

We like to think of it as "unspoilt by tourism"* 😀

*This is code for shitehole. It's like Ayrshire but without the seaside and the banjos.

IainC - Go to Cyprus or Italy instead.

We did Sharm-el-Sheikh for our October sun last year so will also probably need to find somewhere else this year.

Club La Santa in Lanzarote? Been nice there early October in the past. Lots of activities to keep you all busy.
