very nice but is it safe to assume that the outbuilding on the surface can also withstand a nuclear blast...otherwise the occupants would be screwed

Where is the emergency exit?

If the main entrance is blocked etc you will be buried alive.

Mind you, you'd save a fortune by sacking the window cleaner.

I don't know. It just doesn't capture my imagination as much this one did, back in the day:

Indeed. It would literally pay for itself (In 83 thousand years)

Guest bathroom? After the nuclear/zombie apocolypse you're going to have 'guests'?

'Well why don't you and Marjory come over at the weekend, we could have a game of scrabblethat is if you don't mind running the gauntlet of cannibalistic mutants and the gamma rays, ha ha ha haha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaa'

To be fair, once you go underground you won't be going back up those steps for a long while!

If you're into old UK based man caves then have a look at this

Cool shit

I used to deliver papers on this street back in the 80's & know it well, much cooler than the standard air shelters & gun emplacements in the area.

If you want to see the sole converted residential property then see the pdf here or search seafield house NW7.

Cheers.

Sort of out-shadows Colin Furze's attempt, but then he did build his by himself in his back garden:
