we always walk down the hill to the junction, turn left, and theres a pub on the left there called the horn in hand i think. or the bar that joins onto the rescue rooms just up the alley there?
Nottingham isn't very big and 10 mins sees you get to a few decent pubs. Derby Road to Canning Circus and there are several decent ones there (Organ Grinder etc), off the Market Square to the Malt Cross on St James' Street or alternatively, Lace Market.
That takes me back, last time I went to Rock City was in 1991 I think...

Too late now, but the Robin Hood, on Mansfield Road has been taken over by Lincoln Green Brewery, who make some really good beers.
