I almost wet myself, when I first saw that, in an exhibition at the Hayward.
I really like a lot of the posters from the 20s and 30s especially travel ones like this and the ones of the railways. This one, to me anyway, is very much 'after' the Turner painting of The Fighting Temeraire.

Rudeboy - I was thinking about getting off my arse and posting that Van Eyck.
For those that don't know, the mirror at the back of the room shows the scene as it would have looked from behind, complete with Van Eyck painting it. Around the mirror he's painted the stations of the cross. Utter mastery of craft.
Having trouble 'nailing my colours to the mast' on this one. Though for some reason this portrait has always kinda haunted me.
