By Lars Mytting. Worth a purchase for a holiday read?
Yes, if you like logging and are a wood geek(I am) it's perfect!
It gets a yes from me.
Where is the thumbs up emoji?
I enjoyed it.
Pretty in depth in some areas - eg. discussion of the history of various scandinavian chainsaw manufacturers.
Justifies me trying to eat my own weight in cake. High calorie job apparently, not sure it takes into account the introduction of chainsaws, tractors and timber cranes though.
What a fantastically well written and presented book. Really enjoying handling a hard back too. I'm on a camping holiday but when I get back I think there will be enthusiasm enough to split some seasoning rounds and attempt a Holz Hausen. Nothing spectaclar, 6ft 'square' area perhaps. Was anybody inspired enough by the book to try anything from it?
Isn't it good?
Somebody had to do it.
Yes good.

Be warned, the process is addictive, a six foot diameter may be too small, go for eight

I have it from last winter, but going to take it on holiday for another read now. Thanks for reminding me. ๐
Its excellent - from an adopted Norwegian
Buy Cabin Porn too, you know, just for even more inspiration..
Great link mcmoonter, thank you. I feel a tad guilty now that I'm looking forward to getting home from holiday and the last few days I have off before going back to work will be spent putting wood into enviable piles. ๐
Read it at Xmas, couldn't put it down.

We had one until a miss-hit with an axe
just bought norwegian wood as a birthday present for my brother but read it cover to cover myself, great read. can anyone suggest any other firewood and stove books for a full on wood heat addict (me)?
The wood fire handbook by Vincent Thirkettle, I found it rather good as an introduction, I'm not sure if it would add anything to Norwegian Wood.
Cheers, I'd found that on amazon and elsewhere found some reviews that panned it as very very basic, aimed at Hipsters.
Has anybody read, The Log Book: Getting The Best From Your Woodburning Stove by Will Rolls? the reviews I've found suggest it might be a decent read.
I really enjoyed Norwegian wood, but think I'd like a bit more technical detail and a wider selection of ideas and techniques to refer to and try out.
It might be basic, according to the critics, or it might provide a broad base for a beginner. I'd suggest there's too much in it for a hipster.
