I've used a few business style improvement books in the past, mostly Dan and Chip Heath 'Made to Stick' type stuff as it crossed over into my role and workplace quite well, so I'm not afraid of a self-help book but there's a lot of bilge out there where a books written around one simple premise with it then bring battered home with 20 anecdotes

I've recently come out of a relationship, and I'm the father of young twins so instead of sitting on the sofa and watching US Office on repeat guzzling wine (activity now saved for Friday nights only) I wanted to try and use the time and lessons positively

There's a book for every inadequacy imaginable and I think unless you can read yourself and identify a few issues (this is way harder the reading a book so I do need to get to grips with this bit) then it'd just be absolute pot luck at making any real improvements

I'm just about to finish 'If you should fail' by Joe Moran (really good) and have 'Mans search for meaning' on order, and have Atomic Habits after a friend bought it for me.

I'd be interested to know if there are any authors or books in this field that have had long standing changes to anyone, I'd also welcome any recommendations on improving conversations, listening, and single parenting toddlers if available!

I was recommended Reset by David Sawyer from my own thread on a similar subject and that was a game changer for me.

I would say you’re right, there’s a lot of reading and experience but you have to pick what resonates and benefits yourself from the experience of others. As David Sawyer admits in his book, it’s essentially his experience based on snippets of advice he’s taken from many sources.
