Nobhead neighbour skunking in the garden

You advocate prohibition.

No I don't actually - yet again trying to put words in mouth.

If there were a way to legalise drugs without the criminals profiting then I’d be right behind it.

I advocate living by the law until it changes. I advocate NOT enabling the suffering of others. There's a clear difference between what you think I stand for & what I actually stand for.

grow your own,

If you think the stink is bad from smoking. 😆

Yes I would include everything. I see no logic in leaving any of it in the hands of the black market. Which is why decriminalisation is a stupid idea.

I recall an episode of Fifth Gear a couple of decades back, where Quintin Wilson got some geezer puffed up and did a before and after driving test. The only conclusion was that the bloke drove much more cautiously after smoking..

Not very scientific I know but it was more scientific than any of the government's guidelines.

As tj points out, a comparative impairment study vs alcohol wouldn't be that difficult.

Until then, the chocolate test is probably the most falsifiable.

Change the laws. Till then, yip, I'll quite happily break them*. Over to you.

* I'm just making the point here that market conditions dictate what is happening on the ground, not the laws, and that's not going to change. It's only getting easier to get as time goes on. There's an unstoppable market for this stuff. Has been for over 50 years. And you could argue a lot longer.

It's time the laws were brought up to date. Appealing to people's good nature has been shown to be overwhelmingly futile.

You either leave the market to the criminals, or you take control of the market. That's the choices here.

If we can all agree the later is the preferred choice. Then we can move forward, until then the criminals will control a market that is worth billions.

Incidentally, i always find this somewhat of a stunning contradiction.

According to a report by the UN's International Narcotics Control Board, the UK produced almost half of the world's legal cannabis in 2016 at a whopping 95 tons of production, followed by Canada's 80.7 tons of production, with Portugal and Israel trailing at 21 tons and 9.2 tons respectively

Quite funny, that it's Theresa Mays husband is involved in that. 😆

Would imagine things have moved on, considering the legal situation has moved on in many countries since. I see Thailand was the latest to legalise it. Apparently released 3000 inmates last week.

Anyhow, that's my points made, agree or don't!

The tide is turning, just a matter of waiting on people catching up.

this can be dealt with.

but doesn’t stop folk smoking in the garden. as adults, why not smoke in their own house. set a room aside, parent’s bedroom perhaps, and rather than burn, vaporize. far less pungent or lingering.

I'm aware of carbon filters, not everyone is though.

Vaping weed is rubbish btw, both in vapes and in a vaporizer(It's quite wasteful and is different)..

Personally I'd suggest just talking to their neighbours if someone really has a problem. Ask them to go up the back of the garden or round the side of the house. If they do that, and you've still go a problem. Well the problem really lies with your tolerance. If you won't even talk to your neighbour, well that's deeper issues I can't help you with.

Only through use, as after a bit you dont realize how pungent it is.

One of my trips to the supermarket takes me along a road where the odd driver stops for a puff, and i can smell it 100m before I come to their car.

I gave the stuff up after about a quarter century of use, averaging say to take into account price rises £200/month. I would say I've a hell of a lot more money in the bank now 😆

.

Of the 6* of us who were a little group in the Glasgow homeless units, including a close friend of that time, 4 overdosed on heroin, a friends GF died on the kitchen floor one morning aged 19. Most heroin is tainted with nasty substances the gangs put in to maximize their profit. If what they took had been clean and regulated they would likely still be with us.

But the chances are they wouldnt have got involved in the first place, had it been a legal drug. In these cases i blame poverty and the government for their greed and corruption.

* No5 became an alcoholic. I myself always said, 'just stick to weed lads, you'll never go wrong'

.

Weed is harmless. it is not a 'gateway' drug, Super legal and socially encouraged alcohol is far far more dangerous. Illegality of drug use makes it far more damaging.

Many people who smoke habitually will build up a pretty good tolerance to even the most potent weed. I have several friends who smoke like troopers to the point where it only just registers with them and they only really continue out of sheer habit and probably nicotine addiction. This is just an observation however and not a justification for smoking and driving but I would honestly get in a vehicle with them after smoking if grounds of competence were a factor....me on the other hand can't drive for shit whilst as straight as a die!!??

Trying to talk to our neighbours has been futile. They are not the type to have a nice little neighbourly chat with.
Their garden is now a yard with nowhere for them to hide. The prevailing wind blows the stench up from their yard and open windows into our garden and house.
She is irrational at the best of times, maybe from years of smoking the stuff. The irony is, if they stopped smoking they could save up for a bigger detached house, in the kind of area she aspires to.
Today was worse than usual as she had all her friends round too, so about 4 of them puffing away, only leaving to collect the children from school.
One always hopes that they'll grow out of this habit, but it's not looking likely.

In our holiday home in Aviemore, some neighbour has just sparked up a joint and has stunk the house out in minutes. Christ, if this is like your home neighbour you have my sympathy - I'd be onto the polis.

Trim the hedge every time they spark up. Start up the firepit with hedge trimmings. Fight smoke with smoke.

I was considering rolling a "joint." Cat shit in a bin bag and set alight.
Decided against it as it's indiscriminate and I'd get it too!

I'll give him a break as I've just heard his wife is in hospital with alcohol induced liver failure.

Theme?
