"And he’s playing Phil bustard Colins at 0.0 dB"

Ask him to turn it up then

We've got this day in day out. I was hoping the parents with 2 young children would grow out of this habit. It comes through all the windows starting at 7.00 am - around 11.30 pm. Selfish, inconsiderate gits.
Although they only play the loud music when I'm on my own.

I suggest you play some Bach or Beethoven very loudly towards him.

yes, police will be interested if you advise when he drives.

I'm live and let live when it comes to recreational drug use (noted that it's not blowing in my window) although I do recognise that somewhere up the chain someone is dealing and potentially exploiting others in doing so.

I'm absolutely not live and let live when it comes to DUI whether that's drugs or alcohol

Given the temperature he'll be sitting in the garden, No Jacket Required.

Seriously though, if he's DUI dob him in to the cops.

😆

I’d say don’t tell tales to the police. It’s not a nice thing to do.

Against all odds, maybe it will rain down, then you could have another day in paradise.

THIS. Without question - the damage that can be done by an inebriated driver is beyond comprehension. There is no way you can stand back. Advise the police. You're not being a grass, you're performing an act with a view to public safety.

Police wont do anything
I watched a man leave a pub with, i presume his other half.
Got into his audi a5 with the obligatory tinted windows.
3 mins later big wafts of skumk eminating from car. Approx 10 mins later he drove off.
I ring 999. Not an emergency was the response. try 111 said the operator
Thanks, might as well ring the speaking clock as they never answer.

Plenty of evidence on Twitter that the Police absolutely do take things like this seriously (DUI -drink or drugs that is).

Used to like the smell of resin. Skunk smells like piss.
It's everywhere now. Luckily Phil Collins isn't so much.

Wonder if you’d feel the same if he knocked over your kid…

Absolutely call the police if he gets in the car. If not, then not much you can do..

I'd say that if he's driving under the influence of drugs that's a perfectly good reason to shop him.

Really don't understand the strange concept of "grassing people up". The chance of him killing or critically injuring someone is massively increased if he's on drugs at the wheel, and I can only assume that you think this is a good thing.

Report it to the Police when he gets in the car, 999, with vehicle registration etc

If they have a spare resource in the area, they WILL take it seriously.

If their reduced resources are tied up already, there's not a lot they can do, this time.

Surrey roads police have an actively monitored Twitter; I follow it because it's funny reading comments after they've rightly nicked someone

People have reported drivers for drink or drugs DUI on there, the operator asks them to DM it and they then acted on it.

Other forces, YMMV

The problem here is testing.

With alcohol you can be completely free of it within 24, to 48h tops, but with weed it can register as being in your system weeks later. So while it might register on their device, you arent under the effect of it.

With all this contradictory advice I bet OP is in a land of confusion
But seriously this good weather won't be helping, I wish it would rain down but I reckon he's got at least one more night of it

For a while I had neighbours that smoked from the moment they arrived in from work until they went to bed. I wasn't so bothered (quite like the smell in small doses, tolerable enough in larger ones) but my ex-gf was seriously upset about it. My copper mate advised to report that they were producing it rather than just smoking it if we wanted to see some action.

If it's just a one off just live and let live.

@thestabiliser - I cannot believe it’s true, but don’t worry about strangers like me - yours was a slightly different take, so now everyone has heard both sides of the story. Hang in long enough and against all odds you’ll be able to dance into the light.

If it's happening Every day, I'd give him One more night ... then let him know. Tell him "Wear my hat, see Through my eyes. You're Droned. Only you and I know at the moment, but if you keep it up then the cops will hear Both sides of the story". Then if you catch him again ask him "I cannot believe it's true. Do you remember? I said you could have one more night. It's in your eyes now but I don't care any more!"

He's bound to be spun out after that.

And make sure the Police Don't lose erm... your number, in case they need to call back.

My drugs detective mate has told me a lot about what goes on right through the drugs trade, even weed can be incredibly nasty; violence and torture, human trafficking, exploitation of vulnerable people, murders and GBH.
I was live and let live when i was younger, and used to take drugs myself, i'm much less tolerant now i know what goes on.
I don't believe we should legalise beyond medical* use until there is a surefire way of catching drivers under the influence.

Weed is hard to prove of being under the influence, it needs a blood test to be sure, but it can linger in the blood at pretty high doses for a while and can impair driving well after someone thinks they're sober. My mate at uni got done for it and hadn't smoked for 12 hours.

*I absolutely think there should be medically prescribed cannabinoids for chronic conditions, but not a free-for-all

From what i understand this is wrong. Otherwise the likes of network rail, most power companies and many construction companies wouldn't throw you off site for testing positive.

Doesn't the entire UK just smell of skunk for the entirety of the summer?

Or is that just Manchester?

It is utterly brutal. Make no mistake. If you're buying & using - your complicit in enabling somebody else's miserable suffering.

The interesting thing is that its impossible to demonstrate impairment with stoned drivets who are concentrating until they are very very stoned. I have seen a clesely very stoned driver pass impairment tests and its been tested as well with track driving. That is why the blood levels were brought in. The debate is around what blood levels are appropriate and there is no rconsensus

Tj has it right.. its not comparable to drink driving imo.

Also, draconian drug policy drives the violence, exploitation etc.

Its not that there is no impairment. Its that impairment is around getting distracted and forgetting. But its very hard to demonstrate because when tested folk concentrate

Here's a mad idea then. If you're planning on driving later that day, just don't smoke any weed?

Tell the police you think there is drug dealing/manufacturing going on. They will soon be there and might do something about it.

I'd ignoor it if it wasn't very often but it sounds very annoying.

The same is true for alcohol! Its irrelevant for both THC (the active component of cannabis/skunk) and Alcohol there is a prescribed limit - if you are above that you are breaking the law. If you operate a vehicle and take drugs you almost certainly aren't in a better place to judge the impact on your perception/response than the arbitrary cut-offs set in law.

The opposite is true, it's the prohibitionists that enable a black market and all that goes with it.

Don't blame me for the consequences of your perverse laws.

I'm happy for drugs to be legalised to remove the criminal side effects. We have no chance of winning the war on drugs.

But I'll happily lock up anyone DUI

exactly, but until that happens, if you think that buying drugs doesn't directly contribute to the cycle of violence, trafficking, exploitation, etc, you are either kidding yourself or ****ing stupid. 😃
