Also I had never heard of St Edmund – he sounds way cooler than St George & his flag is dope.
I had a patch with him on, but we got told to take it off. Too 'aggressive' apparently. Dude stabbing a dragon might upset some folk.
Totems innit? People get awfully attached for some reason.
My lad plays football and he is more bothered about the 3 lions than the colour of the flag. The kit they have doesn have Georges, but it does have 3 lions
Petty manufactured culture war BS. I have got pretty upset at a few England kits, especially the Nike ones - light blue sleeves! but never at a detail.
Funny thing is they dont get upset at it being a white/blue kit rather than a white/red one. Probably on the stopped clock being correct principle. Interesting to remember the union flags being used in 1966 when only England of the home nations took part.
Good kits in the 1990s - the golden year of 1996 becomes a bit more golden by the hour. We got our flag back off the shaggerati then.
I only came here to see the STW elite **** themslves into a frency at the prospect of outing anyone that doesn't like it, as bigoted, racist gammons.
I've not been disappointed so far:)
Radio 5 has never been more entertaining - Thank you Nike 😀
Never mind £125 for the technical shirt that presumably has useful features and development, they want £85 for the official market-stall knock-off.
If the flag winds up idiots who believe that this is the sort of thing they ought to worry about, then I'm all for it.
Calls for boycotts but ticket price gonna take care of that.
This virtue signalling, namby-pamby, pearl-clutching woke nonsense must stop. Anymore of this and I'll be on the first flight to Rwanda.

More virtue signalling, namby-pamby, pearl-clutching woke nonsense, please.

Bit of a twisted view if you ask me... read the thread again?
Having a laugh at those who don't like it because they're bigoted, racist gammons, yes. Saying that anyone who doesn't like it is because they're a bigoted, racist gammon? I don't see it.
Personally I think it looks a bit stupid, but not all that bothered. Only looks like a LGBQ flag if you want it to, for the professionally offended. It's multi-coloured stripes for goodness sake (like most flags in the world).
Is Lee Anderson going to hold his promise to move to Rwanada?

What features do you need for standing in a pub?
What features do you need for standing in a pub?
LOL 🙂
Seriously though £125 - just wow!
Radio 5 has never been more entertaining – Thank you Nike 😀
Thats a whole lot of angry cabbies.
I'm just listening to it on catch up. Its comedy gold. Theres an awful lot of outraged pearl-clutching going on 😂
I think the LGBTQ+ crew should be getting more wound up about it. They've not used all the colours of the rainbow for chrissake. Half a job.
Seriously though £125 – just wow!
It's Nike? Not Rapha?
It's supposed to reflect the colours of the '66 training kit or something?
You’d have to be insane to spend 125 quid on a shirt anyway.
You'd be insane to buy the super technical tight fit fabric one when the £85 supporters shirt is far better for beer bellies.
What features do you need for standing in a pub?
Stain and water resistant?
Phone - in programs have been absolutely hilarious this morning! The only downside is that A & E might be a bit busy with heart and panic attacks later…
Also I had never heard of St Edmund – he sounds way cooler than St George & his flag is dope.
St Edmund was actually Edmund Blackadder.
that's not a flag, it's something a businessman has come up with in order to sell stuff. Much like a footie shirt actually 🤔Ambulance service union flag.
Could be worse Germany has ditched adidas for that horrible tick company.
I aways thought the military badge was dull in colour so it was less a red target.
I glad they've changed it as its provided some much needed entertainment as the gammons phone in to the morning radio shows to proclaim "Gerrof my flaaaaaaaag!", what can we change next?........
Joey Barton is apparently very upset, which can only ever be a good thing. He's referred to it as 'bisexual'
If I was the designer for Nike responsible for this and was looking at the sort of idiot soiling their petticoats in outrage, I'd be pretty satisfied with my days work 😀
It is close to the bi flag.
This would never have happened 50 years ago - when fancy kits took off. The idiots would be moaning about the hair that obscured collars back then.
Ambulance service union flag.

Well it wasn't a graphic designer that came up with it that's for sure. Missed a trick not putting an ECG heartbeat zigzag in the middle of the green line.
Is the little Nike emblem in question even supposed to be the cross of St George? Too far away from any real resemblance for me. Just some pretty colours.
hat’s not a flag, it’s something a businessman has come up with in order to sell stuff. Much like a footie shirt actually
Well who knew.
Mleh. Some fans see particular bits of kit as very important. A colour, the badge, whatever. The reason ' inspired by 1966 training colours' is weak so I'm not at all surprised Nike are being called out for messing with the flag. Personally...mleh, I'd prefer to keep the flag and reclaim it from any knuckle draggers but oh well.
The real issueis the price! Omg! And a child's shirt only a fiver less that is despicable. I feel angry at that. Assuming it's like many club shirt deals the fa will have just sold the rights to Nike for a one off price so it's only Nike that benefit from such pricing.
There have been off-colour variations of the Union Jack/Flag, used for clothing and household items, since the 1960s
A recent example being the backdrop to the tory leadership contest in 2019.
All the references to altered Union flags are false comparisons. The distinctive feature of the Union flag is the design, not the colour. The St George's cross is a simple design (albeit different from many other cross flags in that it is vertical/horizontal, single block colour and normally arranged centrally). But there are still others out there with only colour to distinguish them. I like the design, but didn't see a St George's cross in it.
ETA see Kernow and St David. Can't link as buttons have gone awol.
I hope none of these people end up in close proximity to a Pride event. They'll go into meltdown if they see one of these....

Binners - I am going into meltdown over it, but not for the reasons you think
More seriously,
Have we really reached a point where "using colours" is problematic? I didn't look at that cross and immediately associate it with, well, anything. It's a poor rendition of the St George cross and, if it's supposed to be so at all which I doubt, a poor rendition of anything to do with LGBTQIA+ symbolism. As a standalone design in its own right it's quite pleasant.
Top R needs the thin swapping for the thick I think
Yup, the top right quadrant is incorrect. Nice catch.
The aspect ratio is wrong as well, but it usually is.
I don't care for the deaign much, but it has really upset the people I'd like it to.
If I was the designer for Nike responsible for this and was looking at the sort of idiot soiling their petticoats in outrage, I’d be pretty satisfied with my days work
Would the FA not have to sign these off also? I'm assuming there are some rules, much like with official cycling clothing. Or not?
I aways thought the military badge was dull in colour so it was less a red target.
Well, quite. But it's interesting what people choose to get irate about innit.
I see that my MP who was last heard from moaning about how early Easter eggs were in the shops, has now jumped on the populist bandwagon. I'd hazard a guess that the **** has never been to a footy match in his life but he's SUCH a man of the people. Or desperate for anybody to vote for him...

wear a green shirt and go to the home end of the ibrox and you’ll have your answer
That's a massive false equivalency.
