Why would they and the FA do that?
Its only going to create a lot of bad publicity.
Don't understand, unless it is to distract from the price of the shirts.

No such thing as.....
You'd have to be insane to spend 125 quid on a shirt anyway.
Given that they've changed the colour of the English flag, I'd say it was a wrong move. Imagine a Scotland kit with the Scottish flag in yellow and green.
And I'm saying that as someone who is concerned that the flag of St George on our club kit might be misconstrued, rather than being a flag shagger.
I think the main issue is that its not very good. They haven't improved it, they've taken something simple and made it fussy. Compare it to the 2012 Olympic kit. They buggered about with flag on that and it looked pretty good.
Can't say I really give a shit either but you can't really change the colours in a flag can you seeing they are the key identity of the flag itself.
Good, the sooner we return to St. Edmund the better. His flag is waaaay cooler.
Culture war fodder (albeit pricy)
GBeebies gonna be all over this.
Umbro did this in 2012 with Peter Savill, no one gave a shit then but now it’s gobshite central hysteria.
Its not even the badge on the shirt but a pointless detail on the rear of the collar.
No they are disease ridden pigeons
It's a strong metaphor
Had to look up to see what youse were on about.
I don't give a toss about footy or this really, but it does seem a bit bizarre when the colours of a flag are their main identifying features. Anyway when I first saw it it reminded me more of the Norwegian flag if anything.
The kit doesn't normally even feature a flag, and without the white background its not even the flag, its just decoration that happens to be a derivative of the flag. Aside the eye watering price (£150 for the match version!) there's nothing to see aside some foaming at the mouth over a non flag not being the same colour as the flag thats not usually on the shirt anyway.
They’ve just interviewed someone to do with England supporters (he runs the fans national team) on 5LIVE. He managed to get in that his politics were to the right and that the purple and blue lines were because of the LGBQT community before the presenter could shut him down.
Is this the reaction that the FA wanted?
I'm with @Johnnystorm on this one. St George and his cross are shared with something like twenty other countries! Ditch the cross altogether from your strip and re-adopt St Edmunds dragon. Of course, I still wouldn't support your team, but I'd admire their strip a lot more. 😉
Yeah I LOLed at that too. I don't give a toss about the shirt but the FA could do worse than alienate some of the worst bigots in their supporters' ranks.

Go to Genoa and you'd think there are loads of England fans....
Can someone post a link as my Google-fu isn't warmed up.

I'm not even cross about this.
Can someone post a link as my Google-fu isn’t warmed up.
I am 100% not the target market for this so don't really care, but on the other hand anything that winds up right wing bigots is all good with me.
"Imagine a Scotland kit with the Scottish flag in yellow and green."
tbf the Jamaica shirt is a lot more successful than the team (sorry Reggae Boyz)
Wait till they see what mini have done with the union flag on their brake lights, 2 British icons besmirched in 1.
Maybe they thought it would appeal to the typical open minded liberal and tolerant football fan?
That looks really cool, I'm totally on board with that change. The English flag is boring. I like the away kit a lot but not going to spend that much on it!
Daily Heil declare as pampering to gender fluid. If it’s upset their fans then I’m good with it.
It's genuinely hard to get wound up by a company using some other colours on a thing that has traditionally used different colours.

I can imagine some will though. It's strange how those folks never seem to get wound up by the fact that the armed forces have been buggering about with different colours for years now, vis:

Or that the RAF have used low vis roundels on planes for decades, I mean it's pink! And light blue! For goodness sake...How woke could you get? I've always suspected those RAF types of being milk-sop leftie liberals

I no longer think it’s weird. Just rewound five live to hear the England fan and he was almost in tears and blaming ‘the gays’.
It’s no longer weird; it’s fantastic and I wish I could buy one!
Not in the slightest bit bothered.
Pretty
Just rewound five live to hear the England fan and he was almost in tears and blaming ‘the gays’.
Well if they've already taken over football imagine what they'll come for next? Nothing is safe!
Will up the price of all the old Retro kits in the wardrobe, thanks Nike! 🙂
If you ever find yourself in the National Museum of Scotland there's a display showing the Scotland footie strip through the ages. The outstanding one, in my opinion, is the 1881 strip sponsored by the 5th Earl of Roseby. It's his jockey colours of Primrose yellow and Rose pink stripes. I'd love to see the reaction to that from a lot of the football 'fans' I know.
I'd bring that back, and the big long shorts. I'd definitely bring back the 5kg leather footballs. That'd give modern day footie players a genuine reason for falling to the floor clutching their coupin when they get smacked by one of those. Yeah, bring all that back and I might show some interest.

I was just thinking this. Their heads would pop if they saw these.

Why are people getting their knickers in a twist this year?
Warming up for the general election campaign. I see Starmer has apparently come out against it too.

1970

Ambulance service union flag.
There have been off-colour variations of the Union Jack/Flag, used for clothing and household items, since the 1960s - and yes, some folk complained about it at the time. Today you'd refer to them as "gammons".
Nice the Kier Starmer has decided to court these weapons grade racists by agreeing with them. I expect that from Sunak but not him.
Also I had never heard of St Edmund - he sounds way cooler than St George & his flag is dope.
Maybe they should replace the flag with some more appropriate imagery to compliment the inevitable neck tattoo that will be above it?
An icon of a Rusty transit van perhaps? Maybe a wrap of poor quality coke or a can of Fosters?
For me the whole thing is just another reason to hate international football. The proper footie is interrupted far too many times during the season to make way for pointless nonsense like this
Give it a few weeks and all those unsold tops will be twenty quid in Sports Direct anyway
Typhoons are a lot more woke than Spitfires so it’s ok. I mean, beyond visual range!!!!
Although Spitfires packing yellow on the roundels too 🤷♂️
5 Live blowing up chronic right now.
