The Mrs would like a slap up dinner with stay away for her birthday.
I think something like the pig in Brockenhurst would be great but they have a 2 night min policy and is quite pricey per night, so is simply way over budget (easily looking at £500!).
So, I guess I'm looking for either a really great gastropub / restaurant with some cosy accommodation. Happy to drive for a couple of hours to go somewhere, so that probably covers most of the south or south East.
Anyone got anything to recommended?
White Horse in Chilgrove near Goodwood. Not stayed there but eaten & drunk and was very nice.
The Fox Goes Free up the road in Charlton does great food & drink as does the Hare & Hounds in Stoughton. No idea if either have rooms though.
All 3 are also very convenient for some great walking and some good mtb riding as well as Goodwood, Midhurst, Petworth & Chichester.
