I'm looking for small LED/LCD TV probably 26"
I have a freeview pvr / dvd player 's all in non HD, but in the future I may want freeview HD I guess

I don't and will not get Sat, and cable isn't available in my area.

Does it make any difference if I get a 720p or 1080i HD models?
It's only 26", so does it not really matter?

what are the other specs I should be looking at for picture quality, I am replacing a 21" CRT and know nothing about modern TV's

Thanks in advance

i'd look for something a little bigger. a 32" samsung would be a good start. the 26” models don't have a lot of features (number of hdmi inputs, for example). also crt's, even small ones, will look big compared with modern flat screen tv's. So for a lounge, 32" is ideal. You will also notice that sound will be poorer than a crt (the bass hass to come from a smaller enclosure).

To be honest, signal is more important than pixels on the tv. I have a 1080i 32” samsung lcd and a 42" 720 plasma pioneer. the pioneer has a much better (reference quality) picture. both are fed HD signals. At the moment, if you have a good freeview signal, i'd look for an integrated Freeview HD TV. If you use Freesat, I'd consider an integrated Panasonic. all TV's will come with a digital Freeview tuner. Many won't have the HD option. None will have integrated dvd or bluray.

EDIT: none will have pvr option integrated. i recommend Humax, as these tend to provide the best signal to the TV. If you can live without the pvr, go Freeview HD TV.
