Bike folk, this is Captain our second shop hound... Captain this is the world wide web's bike folk. That's the intros over with.
Captain is named after "Captain Sensible" of the punk band The Damned, and has a very "steady as she goes", "I'm in charge" attitude. He's the captain of something, but no one knows what.
Quite possibly the world's worst singletrack hound: very slow, rubbish ground clearance, poor turning circle, and will just sit down and refuse to move after 1/2 a mile. A big fella, I have seen smaller cattle.
designed for comfort rather than speed!
Very apt name, he definitely looks the boss.
haha he looks awesome, I saw a guy walking a couple of them yesterday and they all look great.
Had a Basset as a kid. Great dog. Ours was fairly quick I thought (though maybe I just remember it that way because I was smaller then).
He can be very quick... in Charlestown Cornwall he "land sharked" my £9.50 crab sandwich is split second. A lightning furry flash from the depths of the beer garden... and it was gone.
He can also jump when a new pack of butter is his prey.
But movement for anything other than food is very slooow.
Dont let that picture of him running fool you... just out of shot is a small child with a big icecream.
LOL. At various times ours consumed: a pound of butter, a big block of cheddar, a large box of individually-wrapped Thornton's chocolates (wrappers somehow carefully removed by massive paws) and probably more stuff I don't remember.

*Disappointed*
captain slobbered on me while i was drinking your coffee Charlie 😛
Great looking dog but I've gotta say that I'd have thought Dick, after Dick Scum of Armitage Shanks (for Shanks virgins check out timeless classic 'shirts off' on myspace) cos he's got his 'solid' build 🙂

Dick Scum, above right
£9.50 sarnies ? if you can afford them business must be good !!
Wow, impressive...It's got sufficeint skin for another dog hasn't it..
We had one as kids and my grandparents bred some once. We once got stranded with the dog on Filey Brigg, the dog swam some sections but eventually we had to climb the vertical ladder up the cliff, this my dad had to do with the dog on his shoulder. Very fond memories indeed.
That setting is probably worth £9.50 without the sandwich
