Hopefully choosing our first puppy tomorrow (Bedlington terrier ) any advantages / disadvantages whether we have a boy or girl? We will get it neutered when old enough, so no plans to breed, thanks for any advise.....

Girls are generally easier especially for a first dog

I've always had bitches, they seem more loyal to me.

We've got one of each.

The dog is more placid and polite (he's never taken anything, he always 'asks' for something). He's more loyal, or more protective. He doesn't hump.

The girl is a loon. A complete hunting machine. She doesn't ask, she just helps herself. She tries to ride my leg like a cowgirl whenever she can.

I think it has more to do with the personality of the dog than the gender.
